If you have a head for numbers, and have strong organizational and analytical skills, a position as an account technician can be a good career choice. Account technicians gather and analyze financial data for banks, companies or organizations, and are responsible for preparing financial statements and reports for upper management and clients. Account technicians also deal with insurance companies, maximize benefits payments, and also manage all financial documentation such as invoices, purchase orders, checks, and other financial records.

Accounting technicians also are responsible for managing staff payroll, interacting with upper management and other groups within the organization, arrange invoice payments, monitor financial transactions, bookkeeping, and preparing budgets. These professionals typically work in an office environment during a normal workweek, and must be proficient in computers, spreadsheets, and basic math, as well as possess excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
