Choosing a career is tricky.
Not only do you need to find a job you actually want to do, but you have to consider the salary and job availability. Using data from the BLS we found the jobs that will grow the most in the next decade– and that earn over $100,000 annually.
The results? Below are the 6 jobs with the best career prospects– even if they do all require education and skills to secure.
Judging from the data as a whole, technology and health care jobs will continue to grow over the next decade. If you want to benefit from this boom, becoming a Nurse Practitioner or Information Security Analyst will allow you pick from plentiful jobs–and earn you a fat paycheck.
How We Determined This
This one was fairly easy. We simply looked at the BLS’s occupation growth projections from 2020-to-2030. From there, we found the jobs with the highest percent increase from 2020 jobs to 2030 jobs.
Of course, we didn’t want just the fast growing jobs- we also wanted ones that are high paying. So we then narrowed it down to the jobs with substantial growth increase and a median salary over 6 figures. That yielded the above 6 jobs.
You can’t just walk into these jobs
Of the fastest growing jobs with the highest pay, all typically have workers with a Bachelor’s degree or more occupying them. Some even require complicated licensing. For example, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are both licensed positions with strict requirements in all 50 states.
Even technology positions that you might be able to squeeze into without higher education will have high expectations of preexisting knowledge or other training such as a coding came.
Ultimately, it will take some work (and some years) to land the bulk of these jobs. However, those that do will be rewarded with high salaries and plentiful opportunities.
