The Tepa Companies are seeking a Welding Apprentice who will Perform welding tasks under supervision on piping and plate within petroleum operations facilities. In addition to welding, the successful candidate must be able to assist in tasks related to welding such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. As required, the Apprentice Welder will also be tasked to assist with general site work such as loading and unloading equipment and materials, site clean‐up and preparation, mobilization, and demobilization to and from the jobsite, scaffolding erection, general tank construction tasks and other duties as assigned.
This role is intended for May 2026 college graduates who majored in an applicable field. What You Will Do:
We are seeking a Welder Apprentice to learn the skills and techniques necessary to become a professional welder. The Welder Apprentice will assist experienced welders with various tasks such as cutting, grinding, welding and fitting metal parts. This position requires a willingness to perform physical labor and learn from a team of experienced professionals.
Assist welders in setting up and preparing weld surfaces, equipment, and materials as needed
Cut and grind metal pieces to fit properly and remove any impurities
Perform basic welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques
Clean and maintain welding equipment and tools daily
Move materials and equipment as directed by lead welders
Learn and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times while performing welding tasks
Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and to performance expectations
Attend mandatory safety meetings and training sessions
Assist fabrication team with various tasks (Sawing, Rolling, Bending, Fit up)
Assist in assembly of product packages
Assist in painting and sandblasting as needed
Read blueprints and drawings and take measurements to plan layout
Align parts using calipers, tape measures, etc. and clamp pieces.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to determine flaws
Perform dimensional checks throughout the process to ensure that tolerances are adhered to according to blueprints
Confer with engineering, supervisor and manufacturing team members to exchange technical information
Assist in the design of fixtures and tooling to meet special engineering needs
Communicate effectively with the team to clarify instructions and address production issues
Be willing to Float to other Departments to meet production demands as needed
Work required overtime periodically

Work schedule: Monday through Friday - 6:15 am - 2:45 pm. 30-minute lunch break

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Previous welding experience and experience operating forklift preferred, Microsoft platform proficient
Functional Skills: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift up to 50 pounds. Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
Language Skills: Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is essential for effective communication with team members, documenting work, and ensuring safety in the workplace.

This four step training program, lasting 3.5 years, is designed to give the employee the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to become a lineman as per Corn Belt Energy policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Apprentice Lineman is responsible for the following tasks:
Install transformers, regulators and reclosers, and make the proper wiring connections.
Operate and work from aerial bucket trucks.
Perform lineman duties on both secondary and primary voltages on energized lines.
Operate equipment including, but not limited to, line construction trucks, backhoes, trenchers, service vans, pickups and service trucks.
Understand theories of voltage regulation, fault currents and coordination of line protection devices.
Use of all hand tools, implements, devices, equipment and material required for work.
Construct overhead and underground lines and operative all equipment necessary to complete those tasks.
Basic metering that includes connecting service as well as disconnects.
Cut and trim trees as needed.
Must be able to read and comprehend the text and workbooks to complete the Apprentice Program.
Develop a working knowledge of construction specifications and the National Electrical Safety Code.
Capable of understanding and applying all OSHA and company regulations and safety rules necessary to perform the job.
Possess the ability and skill to learn to climb poles and towers.
Required to submit to and pass random drug testing as per DOT requirements, as well as submit and pass a CDL physical and medical examiners certificate and hearing test regularly.
Frequently maintains both underground and overhead electrical system by replacing damaged transformers, breakers, regulators, conductor, insulators, meter loops, poles, switching gear and related equipment on energized and de-energized lines. These duties are qualified in the JATC Standards of Apprenticeship; step advancement guidelines.
Performs related duties to line construction which includes accounting for materials used, stocking trucks, loading and unloading materials, and inspecting distribution and transmission line for necessary maintenance.
Submits all required paperwork as needed to comply with company rules and government regulations.
Must reside or be willing to relocate within a 20 mile radius of the Princeton office.
Other duties as assigned.

Must be able to travel on a limited basis. Most trips will be limited to a two hundred mile radius of office; occasional other trips in the country.
Must purchase tools and equipment as specified by CBEC policy.
