IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Structural Project Designer in our Vancouver, WA office. As a Structural Project Designer you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. They will be responsible for working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of structural systems for buildings and other structures. This position will be expected to work within the project's monetary budget, train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Some key duties and responsibilities include:
Lead efforts for the analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards;
Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication;
Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended;
Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions;
Provide in-process design reviews of structural system design, calculations, and specifications; Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements;

Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work;
Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner;
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals;
Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager;
Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases.
Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications;
Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures;

Education and experience requirements are:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required;

3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry;
OR
Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred;

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time, on-site position that requires the individual to support the team in their CAD/CAM design workflow within an active production environment. Our department is responsible for surveying, designing, and drafting across multiple crafts (structural, pipe, sheet metal, etc.) for various commercial and government projects.
This role is tightly integrated with field operations and production. The CAD/CAM Designer will regularly work with incomplete or evolving information and must be comfortable translating real-world conditions into constructible drawings, layouts, and reference models. Accuracy, adaptability, and clear communication are critical.
We are seeking a key team member who can support ongoing work, respond to production-driven priorities, and grow into additional responsibilities through cross-training.
Experience in all listed areas is NOT required. Candidates with strong experience in one primary area and the ability to learn others are strongly encouraged to apply.
EXPECTATIONS:
* Minimum of three years of experience in at least one of the following is required:
* AutoCAD
* Solidworks
* Point Clouds workflows (Processing, Meshing, and Reverse Engineering)
* Support the department with a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

* Identifying material needs and generating Excel-based material take-offs and purchasing lists
