Position Summary Binghamton University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dramatic Writing. We seek an established writer with an MFA or other relevant degree in Playwriting, Creative Writing, or a related field. Candidates should be working in theatre or other dramatic writing fields, with evidence of a developing national or international profile and potential for significant further artistic production. Continued production and/or publication at the professional level will be required for tenure. The successful candidate will teach courses in playwriting (beginner and intermediate) and script analysis and may also teach other courses in global dramatic literature, topics in dramatic literature, devising/new play development, and/or dramaturgy, depending on the candidate's expertise. Teaching responsibilities are normally four courses per year, with additional advising of undergraduate and graduate students, and participation in departmental service and governance. In addition, Excelsior looks for our part-time clinical instructors to demonstrate commitment to student success by supporting institutional engagement and retention initiatives, reaching out to struggling students and collaborating with instructional faculty and support staff to ensure students have access to all available resources that impact success. Duties and Responsibilities: * Successful complete institution-sponsored training program. * Fulfill all requirements and adhere to all institution policies identified in the Excelsior University Clinical Faculty Handbook. * Work 2 non-consecutive weekends at a clinical site during an 8-week course term. The weekend consists of Friday (6 hours-- 3 hours orientation, 3 hours patient care) & Saturday/Sunday clinical days (each 12 hours, 6:30 am-6:30 pm). * Remain present for the entire clinical day, adhering to the full duration of clinical hours indicated. * Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student in the clinical group, consistent with the course and clinical objectives. * Demonstrate competency with nursing skills and associated technology (EHR, automated medication dispensing system, smart intravenous pumps, etc.) * Demonstrate familiarity with assigned clinical unit(s), facility policies and procedures; complete all facility required training. * Participate in pre- and post-clinical activities with assigned students within Canvas LMS. * Conduct synchronous Zoom sessions with students as indicated by the course. * Exhibit content and skill-based expertise when engaging with students; provide relevant evidence based professional examples pertinent to the topic. * Provide students with individualized feedback summarizing strengths and areas in need of improvement. * Complete individual clinical evaluation rubrics for each student in a timely manner. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     JOB SUMMARY: The Basic Science Faculty - Physiology/Microbiology faculty member will serve as a Facilitator in the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Pathway, teach/assist in courses in areas of expertise, write examination questions, conduct workshops and/or review sessions in one's areas of expertise, advise medical students, interview applicants to medical school, and contribute to the mission of the college through research and service. CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are a list of Academic Exercises that may be required as a member of the Faculty from time to time: * Be available for possible occasional travel to Erie, as may be assigned by the Senior Vice President and Provost and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for LECOM at Elmira; * Facilitate PBL sessions, meeting with the class according to the published schedule; * Teach and/or assist in courses in area of expertise, utilizing lectures, video presentations, pod casts, and laboratory activities; * Evaluate all students who are in each class and each laboratory assigned; * Prepare evaluation tools that will aid in the evaluation of students' work product and help to identify students that are discovered to be weak in various areas; * Contribute to the academic planning and development of LECOM's curriculum by preparing course syllabi, course outlines, lectures materials, bibliographies, and other materials related to the courses and laboratories as assigned; * Provide academic advice and support to LECOM's students through regularly scheduled and published office hours, and also, by appointment; * Demonstrate continuing efforts to undertake research projects related to the faculty member's discipline, and/or, the profession of Osteopathic Medicine; * Be physically present at LECOM for no less than 40 hours per week during normal school hours in order to attend to teaching duties, research, committee assignments, student-related and other duties; * Prepare written monthly reports documenting the foregoing activities in a form acceptable to the Senior Vice President and Provost and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for LECOM at Elmira; * Perform any other duties as assigned by LECOM in its sole discretion including, but not limited to, participation in any new academic programs; * Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM); * Serve on committees, as assigned and as advisor to assigned students and at least one club; * Provide, at minimum, two scholarly activity or research project yearly; * Preparation of educational tools (A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans…etc.); * Preparation of demonstrations, lectures, small group discussions, and the selection of suggested and required reading from various sources, and coordinating these educational tools with other faculty members; * Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes; * Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction; * Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience; * Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; * Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Associate Dean of Preclinical Education; the PBL Pathway Director, and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for LECOM at Elmira; * Must be available for work during the hours assigned, and; * Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institution's needs.
