Duties
During the course of their careers, Secret Service Police carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral. Exceptions may apply for those with current or prior service in federal law enforcement positions covered by special retirement provisions. The Secret Service has determined that age is essential to the performance of this position.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
Certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so, if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.

Job Summary

Responsibilities and Duties
Performs security patrols, traffic control, detection, investigation and arrest of persons involved in crimes or misconduct.
Responds to emergency radio calls and investigates all types of incidents.
Investigates and renders assistance at scene of vehicular accidents. Summons ambulances and other law enforcement vehicles. Takes measurements and draws diagrams of scene. Interviews suspects, witnesses and drivers. Preserves evidence.
Conducts follow‐up investigations of crimes. Develops leads and tips. Carefully searches scenes of crimes for clues. Analyzes and evaluates evidence and arrests offenders. Prepares cases for giving testimony and testifies in court proceedings.
Prepares a variety of reports and records.
Undertakes community oriented road work, and assists citizens with such matters as motorist

Coordinates activities with other deputies or other County departments as needed, exchanges information with officers in other law enforcement agencies, and obtains advice from the County Prosecuting Attorney regarding policies and procedures.

Application Process:
In early 1954, the voters of the Township of Taylor adopted Act No. 78 of the Public Acts of 1935, as amended, of the State of Michigan. This Act provides for a Civil Service Commission for the fire and police departments, to be administered by three commissioners.
The Act lays out certain definite requirements as to age, educational standards, etc., for applicants to the fire and police departments. It also gives the Commission the authority to augment these provisions by making Rules and Regulations in conformance with the limitations of the Act.
Following is an outline of the procedure used by the Commission in processing new applications:
Oral Examination:
A score of 100% is possible, based on this interview. An applicant must earn at least 70% on the oral examination. Those who have a combined total score of 70% will then be placed on an eligibility list according to score (highest score first). A physical examination and psychological evaluation will be scheduled if a job is offered.
Eligibility List:
The names of those applicants who pass all requirements will be placed on an eligibility list with the highest test score first. This list will be in effect for a two-year period unless all names are exhausted before that time. Being on the list certifies that you are eligible for hire, provided you pass additional requirements at the time of hire. The Commission establishes the list. The Appointing Authority (Mayor) is responsible for hiring from the list at his discretion but must choose from the top five names.
Failure to appear for appointments, to submit the required documents, or to pass any requirements, will be basis for rejection at any point.

The Bay City Department of Public Safety is seeking qualified MCOLES licensed or licensable applicants for the position of Public Safety Officer (PSO). We offer a starting pay of $27.65 per hour ($57,512.00 per year, plus overtime) for Public Safety Officers. The top pay of $36.75 is achieved after only three (3) years ($76,440.00 plus overtime). POSITION SUMMARY
General duty police work in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of state laws as well as local ordinances. Earning Potential under the current contract:
After 10 years of service with the AAPD, the salary of a Police Officer is $97,869 annually or $100,071 with a Bachelor's Degree (base pay).

This is a sworn law enforcement position that involves protecting life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work involves responsibility for performing assigned police work of varying difficulty utilizing community oriented/problem solving techniques which include: community engagement, resource development, the enforcement of laws and ordinances, crime prevention, detection and investigation, apprehension of violators, preservation of order, and related police functions.
