The Desktop Support Specialist role is to provide a single point of contact for staff and student users to receive support and maintenance within the organizations desktop computing and staff/student portal environments, in addition to helping maintain the networking infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Assist Corporate IT with future educational computing strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware/software needs.
Conduct research on hardware/software products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase as needed.
Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of varying complexity desktop problems for staff and student users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot staff and student user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels.
Maintain high level effectiveness and uptime for Student Labs Computer labs and overall Staff/Computer support maintenance.
Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of campus switches, servers, and firewalls as directed by Corporate IT.
Collaborate with Corporate IT to ensure efficient operation of the companys desktop computing environment.
Receive and respond to IT Support Requests, Student Portal Support Requests, e-mails, and phone calls regarding hardware/software issues.
Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) requests as they are submitted and approved
Ensure that physical desktop connections (Ethernet, VoIP, and other Peripherals) are in proper working order.
Assess, test and install new educational software requests by staff and faculty ensuring no operational compatibility issues
Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
Develop and maintain an inventory of all desktop workstations, monitors, network infrastructure hardware, printers, and other components and peripherals.
Accurately document instances of desktop equipment, software or component failure, repair, installation, and removal in the IT Support Request system
Facilitate and monitor third party repair for covered, and under warranty
EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Some college coursework completed
A+ Certification
MCP, MOS
1 to 2 years of desktop support experience with relevant Windows Operating Systems.
1 to 2 years of LAN experience
Active Directory Domain and User Account creation.
TCP/IP Networking knowledge.

Patrol assigned posts or areas either on foot, bicycle, scooter, or in a motor patrol vehicle.
Actively participate in crime prevention and community policing activities.
Be mindful of current crime trends on and around the campus grounds and take appropriate action to deter such activity.
Direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic and enforce campus parking regulations.
Perform general security services, including locking and unlocking buildings, rooms, laboratories and roadway gates.
Assist students who require escorts in and around the campus property due to injury or accessibility issues.
Assist motorists who are having battery, tire or door lock problems.

The Liberty Partnerships Program is sponsored by the New York State Education Department and St John's University. It is designed to provide support services to high school students who are identified as having the potential to pursue a college education but need assistance to complete secondary school. The program provides a broad range of services designed to increase academic skill development, motivation to succeed, and foster the personal development of the students in the program. The NYC Beekman Library is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time student worker to join our circulation team for approximately 8-10 hours per week. The Residence Director works collaboratively with the Residence Life staff and University community to create a positive living learning environment for students consistent with the University's Catholic mission. This position is a 12-month, live-in position, reporting to the Associate Director, responsible for the overall management of a residence hall (or halls). The primary focus of the position is on developing students through large-scale programming, crisis intervention, student outreach, and advisement.

Student Conduct:
* Communicate guidelines of conduct that protect the individual student's rights and define student responsibility.
* Generate related student conduct correspondence to residents in a timely fashion.
* Advise and support Resident Assistants in matters of conduct.
* Advise and support students when their personal, social, or behavioral choices create conflict in the halls within their relationships and negatively affect their academic progress.
* Track incident reports and sanctions in university conduct databases.
* Consult with the Director of Student Conduct and Director of Residence Life regarding referrals and other necessary actions.
* Enforce University and residence hall policies and coordinate with Public Safety as needed.
* Manage roommate conflicts and enforce the terms of roommate agreements.
Hall Council/Residence Hall Association:
* Serve as primary advisor to Hall Council and student organizations as assigned.
* Attend Hall Council general assembly and executive board meetings.
* Attend required trainings for the advisement of student organizations.
* Adhere to protocols and procedures for advisement set by the Division of Student Affairs.
* Meet regularly with Hall Council executive board members.
* Demonstrate support for the RHA and Hall Council as a group by supporting and/or attending programs and events.
* Facilitate the development of Senior RA as the co-advisor of hall council.
Miscellaneous:
* Participate in the professional staff selection process.
* Maintain close contact with building desk attendants and maintenance staff and have knowledge of desk procedures.
* Establish regular communication practices with offices such as Public Safety, the Counseling. Center, Student Life, and Facilities Services.
* Coordinate various summer projects.
