ABOUT THE POSITION
The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.
Key Deliverables
Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with Astec's guidelines.
Control and adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately.
Perform pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation.
Accurately perform task based on blueprints provided.
Maintain a detailed activity log of daily duties.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Knowledgeable in basic machine safety to include proper lifting techniques.
Basic blueprint reading and math skills (basic geometry to figure angles) and decimals and metric conversions.
Knowledgeable and able to use tape measure, combination square, levels and radius boards, etc.
Able to safely use hand tools to include hammer, adjustable wrench, air grinder, pencil grinder, and air wrenches.
Closely monitor machine while in operation, never leaving immediate work area while machine is in operation and be ready to respond to breakdowns quickly in order to shut down machine.
Be able to read cut lists (basic reading skills and knowledge of materials - types of steel).
Able to safely operate cranes and forklifts.
Be able to do some layout work.
Review operator manual(s) for saw, drill, and mill for safe and appropriate operation (to include preventive maintenance).
Communicate with other machine operators and team members to guarantee safety on the floor.
Keep work area neat and clean.
Must follow all Astec, Inc. safety rules and requirements.
Must follow all company policy requirements.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
Relevant trade school or college course work desired.
Blueprint reading skills desired.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The technician ensures proper installation and operation of designated Astec products including installation, commissioning startup, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. Technicians will consult with engineering to analyze and remedy problems and to train the customer employees in proper maintenance and operational tasks for maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
· Perform installation under the direction of more experienced employees.
· Maintains positive and professional attitude with customers.
· Accountable for proper start up, operation of all electrical, electronic/control systems, and mechanical components, proper sequencing/Interlocking, and proper calibration, and applications of each of these systems
· Conducts operator skills training for selected customer employees including but not limited to start up sequence, troubleshooting, electrical and mechanical basics, and control systems operations.
·Generates written field service reports for daily activities; submit reports as required.
·Coordinate and communicate with Astec sales, engineering, and manufacturing groups for product or process issues, including warranty, design recommendations, and reporting of any/all damage to equipment during shipment or installation.
·Work closely with the Functional Leadership, Product Support Managers, and Office Support Staff to ensure accurate service reports, and associated billing.
·Be available for emergency dispatch; 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to support our customers and staff.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
·High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some previous work-related experience is a plus; or a combination of education and experience equivalent as deemed sufficient by management.
·Minimum 0-2 years' experience in construction, manufacturing, or related fields
·Prefer 0-2 years of experience in the HMA, Concrete, or Combustion Industries
·Knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits
·Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and electronics blueprints and designs.

ABOUT THE POSITION
This role is responsible for managing retrofit controls projects from initial site assessment through installation and commissioning for asphalt plant automation systems. The Project Manager conducts field audits to document existing plant conditions, ensures engineering has complete information to design panel replacements, manages customer communication throughout the project, and coordinates with service teams for installation and startup. Most projects involve control panel replacements in existing structures. Several concurrent projects may be concurrently assigned.
LOCATION: This is an onsite position in Chattanooga, TN
NOTE: Qualified applicants must have experience with Electronics, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
Key Deliverables
· Conduct on-site field audits to document existing control system conditions including panel locations, space constraints, wiring, and sensor configurations
· Create comprehensive site documentation packages (photos, measurements, equipment lists) to support engineering design
· Serve as single point of contact for customers from project kickoff through commissioning completion
· Coordinate project schedules between engineering, Controls Center manufacturing, and field service teams
· Monitor project progress and proactively communicate status, risks, and schedule changes to customers and internal stakeholders
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Field Assessment (Primary Focus):
· Conduct detailed site surveys of existing control systems and plant configurations
· Document space claims, panel dimensions, and mounting locations
· Catalog existing wiring, conduit routing, and sensor installations
· Identify integration points with existing plant equipment
· Photograph and measure existing conditions for engineering reference
· Assess for MCC and control house requirements when applicable
Project Coordination:
· Validate that field documentation is complete before releasing to electrical design team
· Attend work order meetings to ensure project scope is clearly defined
· Track project milestones from engineering release through manufacturing to shipment
· Coordinate delivery timing with customer readiness and service team availability
Customer Communication:
· Serve as primary customer contact for assigned retrofit projects
· Provide proactive status updates on project progress
· Manage customer expectations on delivery dates and installation schedules
· Resolve customer questions and concerns, escalating technical issues as needed
Installation & Commissioning Coordination:
· Schedule field service teams for panel installation and commissioning
· Ensure service teams have complete documentation (drawings, manuals, project notes)
· Monitor installation progress and address issues that arise during startup
· Coordinate final customer acceptance and project closeout
General:
· Maintains a correspondence file for each project containing copies of letters, faxes, telephone numbers, conversation notes, e-mails, customer meeting notes, field drawings and sketches, layouts, and any other pertinent communications
· Secures timely involvement of appropriate Regional Sales Manager whenever a change of project scope is needed
· Ensures changes of scope are documented and vetted through a Change Review System (CRS)

Required:

ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direction and supervision of the Department Production Superintendent and in
cooperation with the Foreman and Bay Coordinator, weld metal components with welding
equipment to fit and join, fabricate, and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products per
specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.
Key Deliverables
• Adhere to all safety rules and perform work at a quality level
• Read and understand assigned blueprints prior to starting a project.
• Participate in process and product development and improvement programs.
• Accurately inspect metal prior to welding to ensure clean welds.
• Perform grinding operations that comply with Astec's standards
Key Activities & Responsibilities
• Welders are responsible for the layout of plant equipment for welding to ensure proper welding
of metal parts.
• Must be able to safely perform gang-welding techniques (do's and don'ts).
• Must be able to safely weld vertical, flat, and overhead with both MiG and stick.
• Must inspect metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and clean welds to
presentable state (grinding operations).
• Successful completion of Permit Required Confined Space Entry training is needed.
• Must work with Fitters on proper assembly of equipment.
• Inspect welds for quality and proper weld.
• Keep work area clean and neat.
• Ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed
• Must be able to safely use cranes and forklifts.
• Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding including hood and filter shades
and arm/body protection.
• Must be able to read and understand weld symbols.
• Must select proper rods or wires to perform the welding job.
• Must test all hot oil piping for leaks and repairs as necessary. Repairs would be welding
related repairs. Inspection includes the safe use of air hose, pressure regulator, and squirt
bottle.
• Must maintain welding machines by keeping them clean and changing liners in the welding
guns.
• Follows company policies and procedures at all times.
• Follows proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Trade school or community college course work preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with heavy equipment production line welding.
• MUST be able to pass a 6G TIG Test.
• Must be able to read a tape measure.
• Performs 4 or more critical or difficult tasks using independent judgement.
• Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse and locate and
open/close programs/files.
• Knowledge and ability to perform all Grinder tasks required.
• Ability to properly and safely MiG weld, stick weld, and arc gouging required.
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols required.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing manufacturing projects to enhance facility production across multiple Astec facilities. The incumbent will assist our business partners in discovering all aspects of each project, from ideation to full execution and implementation. The Project Manager will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.
Specific work assignments may include planning and leading facility operational and manufacturing project planning sessions, facilitating project status meetings, maintaining complex project plans/schedules, updating RAID logs, and tracking costs and resources for multiple projects simultaneously. The role will involve leading high-impact projects and participating in project planning sessions independently. Responsibilities include preparing and conducting pre-work for these sessions, as well as following up and taking ownership of actions.
KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
· Overseeing project processes and procedures; monitoring the productivity and performance of the project team.

· Effective team-building expertise.
