What You Will Be Doing:
You will lead and support a team of R&D technicians who contribute directly to Helion's scientific and engineering development efforts. In this role, you will manage daily operations, prioritize technician workloads, and ensure safe, high-quality execution of lab and testing activities. You will report to the R&D Manager, and this is an onsite role located at our Everett, WA office.
This role will start out Monday-Friday but will eventually move to Friday - Sunday shift as the team grows.
You Will:
* Oversee and coordinate daily activities of the R&D technician team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring
* Provide mentorship and reinforce best practices to continuously raise team standards and technical capabilities
* Independently install, troubleshoot, test, inspect, repair, and service lab systems including high-voltage power supplies, charging systems, pulse power capacitors, vacuum systems, and plasma systems
* Perform preventative maintenance on lab and test equipment to ensure operational readiness
* Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including radiation protection and environmental standards
* Maintain quality control procedures that exceed industry standards
* Keep accurate records related to operations, inventory, and equipment maintenance
Required Skills:
* 5+ years of experience assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to operational and design standards
* Availability to support a 1st shift schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM
* Proven ability to motivate teams, collaborate across departments, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
* Experience operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms or other heavy equipment
* Experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical components and working in confined spaces
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Hands-on experience assembling or installing hardware and equipment in an industrial or R&D setting

Senior/Principal Analytical Radiochemist, Innovation R&D Chemistry MCFR
TerraPower is seeking a Senior or Principal Analytical Radiochemist to support the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program. This position reports to the MCFR R&D Chemistry Discipline Manager. The role centers on analytical radiochemistry supporting the development and deployment of next-generation molten salt reactor technology, beginning with the design of radiochemical experiments and development of analytical methodologies, and evolving toward validation of salt stability, process integrity, and product qualification in support of reactor safety, performance, and safeguards. You'll collaborate with colleagues across Safeguards, Testing & Materials, Plant Design, and Fuel Cycle teams in a high-performing, multi-disciplinary environment to provide data critical to enabling design decisions and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role is hybrid with on-site presence required four days per week at our Everett, WA laboratory. In this role, you will lead the charge in analytical radiochemistry as both expert and innovator, building the experimental backbone for TerraPower's groundbreaking molten salt reactor technology, and help power a carbon-free future.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead development and implementation of robust analytical methods and procedures for MCFR sample characterization, including gamma spectroscopy, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, and other relevant techniques
* Manage analytical scope related to measuring purity, and mass balance of MCFR products, and analyzing in-process samples for quality control
* Lead development and implementation of robust chemical and analytical separation processes needed to produce high quality data from high salt containing samples
* Direct installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MCFR radioanalytical instruments and equipment
* Recommend and develop alternative approaches for quantification and characterization of samples
* Ensure laboratory procedures are developed, maintained, and continuously improved and maintain high standards of organization, housekeeping, and operational effectiveness in MCFR analytical and radiochemistry facilities
* Ensure and promote strict adherence to site safety, radiation protection, and regulatory guidelines, working closely with health physicists, authorized users, and the RSO.

* Drive continuous improvement in analytical capabilities, safety practices, and team effectiveness

Key Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physical sciences, chemical or material engineering or a related technical field required; Master's or Ph.D. strongly preferred; (Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's for level 11; minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's, for level 12). Experience may be partially substituted for advanced degree depending on position relevance.
* Extensive hands-on experience in each of gamma spectroscopy, ICP-MS, and ICP-OES for measurement of purity of alpha-emitting radioisotopes
* Proven track record in analytical method development using the above techniques
* Demonstrated capability for developing procedures adherent to a NQA-1 quality program
* Strong background in radiochemical separations (e.g., column separations, liquid-liquid extractions) as well as techniques relevant to chemical manipulation and purification of actinide compounds and fission products, is desirable is highly desirable
* Knowledge of chemometrics and/or machine learning is desired
* Knowledge of relevant instrumentation and technique fundamentals (design, theory and interpretation) is a plus
* Experience with gas chromatography and neutron-based approaches is a plus
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to convey complex technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders

Senior Chemist
Reporting to the Natrium Equipment Testing Manager, the Senior Chemist, located onsite at the Everett Test Lab (EVL), is responsible for performing relevant tests associated with developing technology for the Natrium reactor, in addition to providing ad hoc support to the testing teams for experiment design, troubleshooting, and analysis.
Responsibilities
* Propose, develop, and conduct chemistry experiments and lead research campaigns focused on sodium and molten salt chemistry and reaction kinetics.
* Assist in chemistry laboratory and system development, including leading design efforts for flexible experimental chemistry capabilities to support TerraPower R&D activities.
* Provide chemistry support for the design, scale-up, start-up and ongoing testing for the Natrium reactor project.

Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. The Field Chemist is responsible for lab packing, hazardous material classification, hazardous waste determination, labeling mateirals according to regulations, and preparing shipping documents.Hands-on work with the field team is required for this position.
Education and Experience Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Must possess a valid US Drivers License
Must have 2-3 years experience with lab packing, hazardous material classification, and hazardous waste determination or a B.S. in a relatable industry.
Ability to load drums and other containers onto truck using a drum dolly and liftgate.
Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work independently.
Must have experience with lab packing, hazardous material classification, and hazardous waste determination.
Must have a driving record in good standing to pass insurance requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate and maintain company vehicles as required for job duties, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies
Go to customers locations to perform industrial cleaning projects to include lab packing, packaging, labeling, and manifest of waste in compliance with

Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Work with existing management on process efficiencies, report maintenance issues to location supervisor and keep vehicle clean.
Process waste at IRM if the need should arise. This will be during times of high need as opposed to daily activity.
Help offload trucks at our facility.
Work closely with sales department in preparing work orders and other project documents.
Perform working labpack/loosepack jobs and assist in all large jobs.
Perform hazcatting.
Reports all accidents and injuries and completes an accident report form.
Act in a proficient and professional manner, especially while interfacing with customers.
Take personal responsibility that your actions are safe and compliant with all regulations and company policies and point out things you see that may be deficient.
Other duties as assigned.
