DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will employ Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) to create detailed technical drawings for bridges and other structural elements. Your responsibilities will include drafting and detailing tasks that contribute to the development of moderately complex final plans based on preliminary sketches, existing highway and bridge plans, as well as field survey data. The structures you will work on may include reinforced concrete box culverts, simple span bridges, metal plate culverts, multi-span bridges, and various bridge rehabilitation projects ranging from simple to moderately complex. You will undertake a diverse array of drafting and minor design tasks under the professional supervision of a bridge and structural designer, civil engineer, or draftsman. Your work will involve utilizing CADD tools or traditional drafting methods, which will require you to prepare and verify mathematical calculations, as well as establish horizontal and vertical alignments and drainage parameters through mathematical formulas. You will apply your knowledge of algebra, plane geometry, and trigonometry to perform calculations necessary for computing plan quantities and executing structural drafting with minimal oversight. Additionally, you will participate in field inspections of bridges related to rehabilitation and replacement projects, developing inspection notes and sketches with limited guidance from professional staff. You will also be responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and detailing of bridge and structure plans completed by others, providing support and mentorship to junior staff members, and striving to meet or exceed the expected performance outcomes for the current evaluation cycle.

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Two years of experience in a variety of drafting assignments, one of which shall have been in bridge and structural drafting, including six months CADD experience or training, and graduation from high school; or
One year of experience in bridge and structural drafting and detailing assignments including six months of CADD experience or training and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

Job Description

Essential Functions
Prepare project installation and production shop drawings to present to the customer for approval
Completes submittals for customer approval
Prepare conceptual drawings to assist sales
Engages directly with customers to ensure specifications and lead time are met
Works alongside installation, sales, and production teams contributing efforts where needed
Maintains project flow, following targets as established by the Pump Station Division Manager
Communicates effectively with General Contractors, Field Personnel, Architects, Engineers and other departments to facilitate project outcomes and completion
Utilizes Stack IT, AutoCAD, and 3-D software to create detailed drawings showing piping, pumps, various other equipment, and precast for installation and fabrication
Utilizes ERP Software to import orders, enter order lines
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field preferred
Knowledge in piping systems or precast manufacturing and construction processes a plus
Construction experience a plus
Proficient in AutoCAD
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong mathematics and science abilities a plus
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

SUMMARY
Westerman is looking for a full-time Drafter responsible for initiating and developing project mechanical and electrical drawing packages for oil and gas processing and production equipment from conception through project completion based on customer specifications and purchase order requirements. All designs will be accomplished in 3D CAD. All mechanical fabrication drawings are direct extracts from the 3D model with minimal 2D manipulation of the finished drawings.
