Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare and design improvement plans for a wide range of projects. • Prepare and modify construction documents, reports, specifications, and designs for the project. • Analyze maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results for design projects. • Assist with post-design construction support services to respond to RFI's, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations. • Work alongside office staff and management to successfully complete projects within the established budgets and deadlines. • Position requires a mixture of time in the office and time in the field. The mixture will vary depending upon project necessity. • All other duties as assigned. Required Skills / Abilities • Understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures. • Understanding of building codes, government regulations, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures. • CADD/Design software (MicroStation/Inroads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D) • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple requests in a growing company environment. • Analytical with the ability to calculate complex mathematical equations. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Education and/or Experience • Bachelor's degree (B.S., or B.A) in Civil Engineering • One to three years of full-time engineering experience • Experience in the public sector with exposure to land development, transportation, dry and wet utilities • Experience reading specifications and project reports. • Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and techniques with reference to construction materials, methods, and procedures • Knowledge of and experience using Drafting/Design Software (AutoCAD, Revit, RAM, STAAD, additional Autodesk Programs) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations • Eligibility for or in possession of Engineer in Training (EIT) certification Physical Demands The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 2/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 1/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 1/3 of the day. This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis. The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see for a distance are also necessary.
