Responsibilities
Acute care hospital operating room with 7 OR suites and 2 endoscopy suites
Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, pediatrics, and obstetric cases
Common procedures include neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general, and Da Vinci robotics
Staff must cover a variety of surgical procedures as there are no specialized teams
Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred
Schedule is 8-hour day shifts, five days per week
On-call required one night per week and every 5th or 6th weekend
Rotating holiday call coverage
Floating required to Pre/Post Op, PACU (if trained), and ER for trauma cases
Charge nurse and OR techs present on shift
Scrubs are provided
One week unit-specific orientation provided in the OR
Collaborative team environment with high staff longevity and exceptional teamwork
Staff must be flexible with varied daily surgical schedules and willing to educate and support others
Holiday coverage is on a rotating call basis
Candidates cannot be employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities
Requests for time off must be submitted upfront (7 days or less per 13 week contract); additional time off will not be approved
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility and pay consideration
Requirements
Active NE or compact state RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum 2 years of recent operating room RN experience
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Experience in neuro and all primary surgical service lines required
Driver's license required to confirm residence outside 50 mile radius
Must have passed/finalized references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90%
Artificial nails are prohibited for infection control

Expected to float between ICU, PCU, and Med Surg units as needed
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 in ICU, 1:4 in PCU, and 1:5 in Med Surg
Utilizes equipment including ventilators, arterial lines, non-invasive ventilation, Hi Flo, and Airvo devices
One of two ICU RNs on shift at a time
Main responsibilities include initiation and ongoing assessment, care planning, patient education, evaluation of outcomes, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
Expected to provide expert guidance and serve as a resource for other team members
General orientation for travelers is 4 hours, followed by shadowing a floor nurse and 1 shift of on-unit orientation
Facility requires nurses to wear pewter grey or light turquoise scrubs
