On the job training is provided as needed. Job Functions: Performs advanced setup operations and adjusts machine tools to perform operations from provided programs. Adjusts and checks out programming. Operates CNC machine tools to perform complex series of progressive machining operations on a diverse line of work. Adjusts speeds and feeds during operation. Works from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring. Check parts for conformance to specifications. May run more than one unit simultaneously Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting, no more than 50 lbs without mechanical assistance. Bending, stooping, and twisting are normal motions during operation. Work Environment: Job shop manufacturing floor environment. As such, exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes moving machinery and equipment, and occasional high decibels are typical. Shop floor is climate controlled. PPE is required at all times. DESCRIPTION A CNC Programmer/Machinist works in our manufacturing department and must be able to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine with G&M code; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Executes work to specification, schedule, and quality standards tied directly to customer requirements. Reads and interprets work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, GD&T, materials, and machining parameters. Performs inspection, documentation, and finishing to meet internal and external expectations. Supports production, project execution, and occasional customer-facing activities tied to equipment readiness, buyoffs, and service needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver work that meets specifications, schedules, and quality standards aligned to customer requirements. Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce parts that meet tolerance requirements. Load feed mechanisms and position material. Verify machine settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces. Maintain part specifications by monitoring machining operations: drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, thread chasing. Identify malfunctions, diagnose root causes, adjust controls, and replace or sharpen tooling. Adapt to changing work shifts or schedules to meet customer and project requirements. Follow project schedules and complete assigned tasks within expected timelines. Communicate progress and issues early to supervisors to avoid delays. Document all activities through production and quality logs; contribute to WIP tracking and reporting tools. Support cross-functional collaboration by providing accurate technical input when requested. Guide associates on proper task execution to maintain throughput and reduce rework. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance and reporting repair needs. Maintain continuity across shifts by accurately documenting actions and irregularities. Follow all safety, quality, and ethical standards without exception. Demonstrate dependability, accountability, and consistent execution that supports Invio's mission. Qualifications Required Education and Experience * High school diploma or equivalent. * Five years' experience in operating CNC lathes and/or mills. * Blueprint reading a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Possess the physical strength and ability to properly handle tooling, and to safely set-up large work pieces. * Must own tools of the trade, and the ability to use them effectively. * Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts. * Ability to meet production requirements as specified. * Apply shop math with the understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensioning. * Ability to work with engineers and inspectors to produce quality parts to customer's specifications. * Strong math aptitude. * Ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, and other gauges). * Ability to use a feed and speed chart or a calculator. * Understanding of metal properties and appropriate cutting tools, appropriate feed rates, speeds, and depth of cuts. * Ability to program and operate CNC controls. * Ability to machine parts to specific tolerances. * Ability to verbally communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineers. * Able to work with coolant, solvents, and grease.
