Daily tasks include performing precision machining operations, conducting quality checks, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and ensuring that all equipment is maintained and in proper working order. Intermediate level of GD&T knowledge. Ability to take ownership of set-up and operation process from start to finish. Ability to adapt between R&D and short production. Ability to multi-task. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Able to read and understand work instructions such as, fixture alignment, tooling info and part loading instructions. Set-up and operate CNC lathe or multi-axis milling machining centers according to engineering specifications, instructions, GD&T, and operation sheets. Knowledge of manual machines is a plus. Be able to pick up work offsets and tram tools to run true. Understand cutter compensation and can make the correct offset adjustment to ensure a quality part. Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures and tool holders for a given job. Perform basic edits to G code to ensure product conformity. Read and interpret engineering instructions, travelers, and blueprints and be familiar with geometric tolerances and principles. Machinist II is responsible for performing basic machine setups and operating fabrication machinery.
