To be successful in this role you will have:
An active or current DoD Secret clearance.

The incumbent will be responsible for leading technical development of electrical components associated with advanced submarine propulsion plant designs. This position regularly communicates with Navy, NAVSEA, NNL, and shipyard engineers and technical staff via various communication platforms.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have
Strong technical background in submarine and/or surface ship electrical system and component designs
Ability to propose new electrical system and component design ideas and then to lead a team of engineers in the conceptual and detailed development of the design
Ability to communicate complex ideas through technical reports, presentations, and whitepapers
Recognition in the shipbuilding or defense technical community as a subject matter expert in electrical systems, machinery, or power conversion equipment
Proficiency in using simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Siemens Simcenter MAGNET, Altair Flux, or ETAP to model and analyze complex electrical systems
Experience using finite element analysis (FEA) to optimize electrical component designs
Experience leading technical aspects of cross-functional teams to develop and implement electrical system designs

The Electrical Project Engineer is a highly motivated self starter who will assist in various areas of the project, depending on business requirements.

What You'll Do Here
* Report to the project manager
* Work with planning on WO reviews and compliance with associated DC's
* Ensure field teams (32 IBEW Journeyman) have correct documentation or construction aids to perform work
* Technical oversight in the field to ensure quality is in accordance with station procedures or design
* Review of schedules and plans for correct tasks, durations and resources needed
* Make sure we have materials or tooling to perform upcoming activities AVR and Gen Relay upgrade at Surry currently in process.
* Conduct running and cable pulling of med to low voltage
* Panel wiring and replacement in the shop or field Emergency Switchgear Room
* Communicate with engineering team members and engineering manager to maintain the engineering scopes work breakdown structure.
* Communicates changes/updates from the engineering team to other project groups (i.e. scheduling, project controls, construction)
* Organizes meetings (internal or client) as required by the engineering team and develops meeting minutes.
* Reports on Action Items from engineering meetings for input to the Action Items register.
* Coordinates requests for information to vendors/client as identified by the engineering team
* Acta as project management and construction management support role
* Supports weld engineering, quality control, logistics, with site field activities
* Act as the site interface between the Clint and Aecon site management
