**Job Summary**
The Instrumentation & ControlsTechnician III, has completed level three competencies, disassembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, calibrates, tests, and performs periodic maintenance of field instruments, equipment systems and controls. The role, evaluates and determines necessary modification, performs complex repairs or removal of instruments or devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting while performing unscheduled work.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**
+ Provide customers with technical direction and support on the calibration, repair and operation of instrumentation and controls equipment.
+ Write accurate professional reports acting as single point of contact between Customers and GE concerning technical issues and interfacing with all involved functions
+ Implement conversions, modifications and upgrades to gas turbine controls systems including software upgrades and major retrofits
+ Troubleshoots, reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.
+ Records and reports abnormal function or out of tolerance conditions of equipment and initiates corrective action and documentation
+ Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams
+ Use of hand tools to conduct general maintenance of customer equipment
+ Provide documents of daily record of inspection, maintenance activity, repair and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.
+ Ensure all in-field activities are carried out safely complying with company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures
+ Travel extensively (internationally and domestically)
+ May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization's core values.
**Required Qualifications & Experience** :
+ 4+ years of experience without formal degree, in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning.
+ Experienced level. Has successfully performed all requirements of the job multiple times.
+ Possess strong skills and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
+ 3+ years of experience in instrumentation, controls, installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience.
+ Must have appropriate license or certification where required by federal, state or local laws
+ Ability to understand and implement controls software upgrades
+ May be required to work on offshore platforms
+ May be required to travel internationally

**Desired Characteristics:**

**Compensation and Benefits:**
The hourly wage range for this position is $37.00 to $62.21. Employees may be eligible for overtime. Technical Tasks:
Maintaining the health of our global fleet of robots through daily maintenance and repair tasks. Which can include but is not limited to - diagnosing unforeseen problems, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment (tires, electronics, motors).
Carrying out preventive maintenance activities and upgrades on robots and infrastructure. Monitoring and servicing our internal systems, running tests and completing reports, and completing updates or improvements to existing systems as appropriate.
Perform root cause analysis to identify the causes of faults or problems and systematically develop a solution to prevent/solve underlying issues.
Operational Tasks:
Accurately document all tasks/partner or internal messaging related to service concerns or robot-related issues using appropriate applications/tools.
Maintain a clean and organized hub by performing accurate spare parts inventory audits twice a week and ensuring all tools are accounted for and returned to their proper location after use.
Work with our engineering team to identify any potential improvements regarding robot health and design.
Assist our Operational Team and vendors/merchants by providing in-person assistance through performing weekly Merchant Preflights to understand any service-related issues, provide operational and troubleshooting assistance related to Starship-provided devices, and act as a Starship brand representative while interacting with clients.
Occasionally support our Operational Service team by assisting with Robot field rescues or operational services tasks when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

THE POSITION
To coordinate and perform advanced paraprofessional and highly technical field and office engineering work in one or more of the functional areas of the City's Departments. The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Community Development Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.
This is the advanced journey-level class of the Engineering Technician series. It is distinguished from the Engineering Technician II classification in that employees are expected to function as a project leader within one of the functional areas of the engineering division, including the coordination of public works/engineering projects from design through construction.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The City of Woodland Development Services Engineering Branch is seeking a positive and motivated individual with a general interest in public works and construction inspection to support the Development Services Engineering/Encroachment Permitting program.
Successful candidates are:

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
* Provide inspection of encroachment permit projects (any work occurring within the public right-of-way).

* Review plans for public improvements specifically related to encroachment permit projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate the department's projects from planning stage through project acceptance by conducting preliminary engineering studies. Prepare plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for public improvements such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, traffic signals/controls, and other public projects. Make calculations for engineering/surveying and other related work. Obtain and provide field data and recommendations for preparation of modifications involving technical or monetary changes. Assist project engineers in performing survey work and obtaining field data for preparation and planning of proposed project. Provide design, construction or consultation contract administration and management or inspection of capital improvement, repair and maintenance projects. Establish schedules and methods of providing construction inspection services. Resolve conflicts between inspectors, contractors and facility owners. Prepare, review and maintain various data, reports, documents and project files, such as, but not limited to, inspection logs, daily construction logs, change order requests, quantities and material estimates, progress reports, site plans, subdivision improvement plans, development agreements, real property documents, submittals and as-built drawings. Review improvement plans, maps, specifications, cost estimates, and other work for accuracy, presentation and conformance with established engineering practices, City Standards, General Plans and Specific Plans. Provide general information to other City departments, the public, development community and other government agencies. Prepare for review by senior staff policies and procedures for processing requests of the City for City services to facilitate development projects. Determine and oversee field material testing of samples of materials routinely used in construction projects. (For example, concrete, asphalts, soils, etc.) Monitor operational tests on civil, mechanical and electrical systems. Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic test of piping systems as appropriate. Coordinate right-of-way planning and acquisition for public improvement projects such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, traffic and other public work projects. Prepare and assist with presentations to City Council, various Commissions and local interest groups. Share in the responsibility for a sound safety program; promptly report unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor. Prepare data for as-built utilizing GPS equipment, recording changes, dimensions, etc. Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the Employee must be present to completed assigned tasks. Work cooperatively with others including other City departments/divisions and the public. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Training
Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to those of a City of Woodland Engineering Technician II or seven (7) years of increasingly complex paraprofessional engineering experience within the Department or approved comparable experience.
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented with at least six (6) months of college level coursework in drafting, algebra, geometry, chemistry, trigonometry, or related field.
Additional coursework in civil engineering, construction technology, land development, project management or a closely related field from an accredited college is highly desirable.
License or Certificate
Specialty certification such as Construction Management, Project Management, Transportation Management, Land Use and Environmental Planning, or the equivalent is desired.
Requires possession of a valid California driver's license upon hire.

An Associate's degree in mathematics, drafting, AutoCAD, GIS, engineering or related field is preferred.

The ControlsTechnician ensures the operation of control equipment within the facility by conducting preventative maintenance, load calculations, basic circuit installations, and electrical system testing and performs the following duties:
Key responsibilities include
Install, adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul controls systems, instruments, and related equipment.
Recognize and correct potential controls system failures.
Test, time, and calibrate pneumatic and electromechanical components, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI) hardware and software, printers, level and temperature devices, control valves, chart recorders and similar components, and other devices or technology for efficient performance.
Read blueprints, charts, sketches, and operating instructions and proceed accordingly.
Keep maintenance records on controls systems and/or equipment.
Obtain and maintain an adequate supply of applicable repair parts.
Responsible for work and layout, requisitioning necessary equipment.
Conduct load calculations to determine: Wire size, conduit size, transformer size and power supply size.
Basic circuit installations to include: layout conduit, bend conduit, pull wire, land wiring, test and finalize circuit installation.
Conduct electrical system testing utilizing electrical circuit instrumentation: i.e. multi-meter, amp probe, oscilloscope, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities:
Technical Tasks:
* Maintaining the health of our global fleet of robots through daily maintenance and repair tasks. Which can include but is not limited to - diagnosing unforeseen problems, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment (tires, electronics, motors).
* Carrying out preventive maintenance activities and upgrades on robots and infrastructure. Monitoring and servicing our internal systems, running tests and completing reports, and completing updates or improvements to existing systems as appropriate.
* Perform root cause analysis to identify the causes of faults or problems and systematically develop a solution to prevent/solve underlying issues.
Operational Tasks:
* Accurately document all tasks/partner or internal messaging related to service concerns or robot-related issues using appropriate applications/tools.
* Maintain a clean and organized hub by performing accurate spare parts inventory audits twice a week and ensuring all tools are accounted for and returned to their proper location after use.
* Work with our engineering team to identify any potential improvements regarding robot health and design.
* Assist our Operational Team and vendors/merchants by providing in-person assistance through performing weekly Merchant Preflights to understand any service-related issues, provide operational and troubleshooting assistance related to Starship-provided devices, and act as a Starship brand representative while interacting with clients.
* Occasionally support our Operational Service team by assisting with Robot field rescues or operational services tasks when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
* A passion for robots and innovative technologies.
* Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or another related STEM field.
* Previous experience in Technical Support and with any service desk application is beneficial, but not required.

Engineering Technician I This is the entry-level classification in the Engineering Technician series.
