About the Role
This role is ideal for a controlstechnician who enjoys a mix of field installation, troubleshooting, programming support, and customer-facing work. You'll work alongside project managers, programmers, and HVAC technicians to ensure that BAS systems are installed correctly, commissioned properly, and operating as designed.
Key Responsibilities
Install, start up, and commission DDC/BAS control systems for commercial HVAC equipment
Troubleshoot control system issues including sensors, controllers, networks, and end devices
Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and system verification
Install and test field devices such as temperature sensors, actuators, valves, and relays
Assist with loading, editing, and tuning BAS programs under direction of engineers/programmers
Pull wire, bend/install conduit, and complete low-voltage terminations as needed
Collaborate with project teams on equipment start-up, sequence validation, and punch list items
Communicate clearly with building owners, end users, and contractors regarding system status and findings
Document work performed, redlines, and test results in a clear and organized manner
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience as a BAS ControlsTechnician, Controls Installer, or similar role
Strong background in BAS/DDC troubleshooting and commissioning
Comfortable working on active construction and retrofit job sites
Familiarity with common BAS platforms (experience with Tridium, Distech, Siemens, or similar is a plus)
Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems (RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers)
Ability to read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation
Good communication skills and professional, customer-focused attitude
Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a project team

Performs routine maintenance and repair services in more than one craft such as electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, painting, and millwrighting. This includes items such as process computers, pH meters, weigh cells, pneumatic and electrical pressure transmitters, transformers, circuit breakers and electric motors.
* Installs and repairs any instrument or electrical system. This includes temperature, pressure and flow control loops, process computer systems, power distribution systems, motor control circuits, and other systems.
* Knows how to and executes calibrations on all types of process instrumentation. This includes being able to accurately calibrate pH systems, flow systems, density systems, turbidity systems and conductivity systems.

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician must demonstrate initiative in handling issues, be self-motivated, dependable, and work within a team environment. This role also works to support the process operations of the HYCO site and helps to ensure the facility is ran in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. This position responds to unplanned events and makes technical decisions to ensure the reliability of the facility and requires a combination of office and field work. Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required.
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, inspection, calibration, and repairs of plant instrumentation and electrical systems.
Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments and analyzers including transmitters, PLC systems, meters, and automatic valves.

Support root cause analysis program for routine and/or major failures of electrical systems.
Utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), plan and execute instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities including procurement of parts and completion of all follow up required documentation.
Support remote Plant Operations and be able to make control changes.
Candidate will be required to perform work outdoors in variable weather conditions, and at elevated heights or confined spaces.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates in Applied Sciences Degree or equivalent apprenticeship preferred.
Minimum of Five years' experience in an industrial environment strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of chemical plants, with a preference on industrial gas plant processes.
Experience with installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
Working knowledge of Hazardous Work Permits (HWP) and Management of Change (MOC).

ABOUT THE POSITION
Under supervision, the Electrical Technician must be capable of performing all tasks in Astec manufacturing electrical department. Must be able to assemble, evaluate, troubleshoot and correct deficiencies to make certain product specifications are met. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. This level of electrician will deal with live energized equipment and be trained and capable of performing all required tests and if necessary de-energize equipment to meet safe standards before proceeding.
Key Deliverables
· Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
· Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.
· Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
· Read and interpret electrical and electrical circuit blueprints and diagrams.
· Perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
· Demonstrate Astec processes in all aspects of the manufacturing electrical department including panel room, construction manufacturing and industrial manufacturing as warranted by workload demands and scheduling needs.
· Test and troubleshoot heaters to ensure equipment is ready before shipping to customer site
· Correct and re-test to verify corrective action was successful
· Communicate with electrical engineering recommendations to correct or improve processes
· Monitor quality issues that warrant concern and encourage postponement of equipment from being shipped
· Achieve quality results as it relates to the Company's vision and mission
· Promote and educate others on Astec's core values
· Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· High School Diploma or equivalent and/or accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required.
· 0-2 years working in manufacturing in order to understand equipment and process procedures
· Must be detail oriented, good workmanship while taking and following direction with little to no supervision.
· Demonstrated track record of working cross-functionally and as a team necessary.
· Strong problem-solving skills desired.
· Recognition that at every level growing experience in troubleshooting is essential to evaluate and correct concerns before testing.

Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
