Position Summary The Technical Accounting Manager will work under the direction of the Vice President and Global Corporate Controller to drive Adtran's technical accounting function. This role will be responsible for assisting with the timely identification, evaluation, and resolution of complex accounting matters arising from Adtran's ongoing business operations as well as significant strategic transactions and acquisitions. Key areas of focus include consolidation analyses supporting Adtran's legal entity structure, currency translations, derivative and hedging transactions, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and impairment analyses, among others. The Technical Accounting Manager will collaborate extensively across Adtran functions and teams-including Global Corporate Accounting, Legal and Entity Compliance, Tax, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and External Auditors. The role will also provide direct support to the SEC reporting team on financial statement disclosure requirements, business functions on new investment structures and transactions, and the Corporate Accounting team to ensure complete and accurate recording of transactions to the general ledger. Primary Responsibilities * Conduct technical accounting research, prepare accounting analyses, and collaborate with external auditors in addressing technical accounting matters that arise during Adtran's business operations and strategic transactions. * Serve as a GAAP accounting liaison across Adtran, including but not limited to: Global Corporate Accounting, Tax, Legal and Entity Compliance, Human Capital Management, Treasury, and Internal Audit. * Prepare revenue recognition analyses in accordance with ASC 606 for new fee arrangements, including reviewing contractual terms, identifying performance obligations, and evaluating timing of revenue recognition. * Review SEC and BaFin quarterly and annual filings for compliance with US GAAP and IFRS including completion of the disclosure checklist. * Support the quarterly and annual impairment analyses for goodwill and other intangibles in accordance with ASC 350 and long-lived assets as needed in accordance with ASC 360. * Support other technical accounting areas as needed, including: fair value, stock-based compensation, derivative and hedging transactions, other employee compensation, acquisition accounting (including goodwill and intangible assets), non-controlling interests, earnings per share, and non-GAAP / segment reporting. * Monitor, assess, and coordinate the adoption of new accounting and SEC pronouncements as well as industry trends in accounting and financial reporting, including the implementation of relevant internal controls. * Draft and maintain Adtran's formal accounting policies, as well as performing refreshed risk assessments, communicating new and revised policy documents, and supporting training. * Draft transaction-specific accounting position memos and support communication to relevant functions. * Support internal control compliance (SOX 404) within the accounting policy function. * Support quarterly SEC filings to confirm proper reporting and disclosure of key accounting transactions. * Collaborate on the identification and implementation of scalable technology and other solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting policy function and across Adtran. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / TASKS Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. Work in close proximity to and or in a demilitarization facility. Responsible for maintaining the company's buildings, facilities, and equipment in an operating and functional condition. Perform a variety of instrumentation, controls/electronics and electrical trade functions including modifications and revisions, corrective and preventive maintenance on facility systems, equipment and components such as instrumentation, control circuits, pressure indicators and temperature indicators, programmable logic controllers, motor control centers, motors, HVAC units and control and power circuits involved in the installation of conduit, cable trays, raceways, wiring and other associated electrical equipment in support of plant configuration changes. Duties also include involvement in the installation and removal of piping, circuits, and associated instrumentation and equipment supporting facility modifications. As this is also a multi-role position, support of munitions handling, waste management housekeeping practices and other duties as assigned will be required. Perform munitions handling job functions. Perform hazardous waste worker duties in permitted or regulated facilities. Duties may involve one or more of the following: Movement, containerization, storage, identification, loading, record keeping, emergency response and/or handling/disposing of hazardous waste to include munitions, explosives, incendiaries, pyrotechnics, smokes, and other hazardous waste streams. Move unpacked munitions to the appropriate conveyor line to be fed to the PRODS in accordance with approved Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs). Perform overpacking operations of questionable deteriorated condition ordnance. Assist the Area Supervisor in ensuring that munition accountability is maintained accurately. Operate equipment in assigned functional areas in accordance with established SOP's and test procedures. Maintain Fitness for Duty Standards. Perform Journeyman level Craft duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of equipment, systems and components. Perform Corrective and Preventive Maintenance tasks. Utilizes blueprints, drawings and specifications in locating and diagnosing trouble in equipment, control circuits and power systems. Perform emergency repairs to systems, equipment and components. Records the as-found condition as well as the repaired condition, analyzing system characteristics to determine the cause of failure. Perform journeyman level duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of low voltage (≤ 120 volts) electrical equipment, systems and components. I&C Technicians may perform Electrical LO/TO zero energy verifications on 480-volt electrical equipment, after completion of NFPA 70 Qualified Person Training. Replace worn, damaged or failed components and fixtures in support of facility operations. Conduct post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensures systems, equipment and components are returned to operational conditions. Be able to complete training and certification of the SDC Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS). Carry out or assist in the operation, calibration, performance of preventive/corrective maintenance and maintenance of records on all CEMS equipment. Recommend changes to fine-tune any monitoring, waste sampling, and CEMS related procedures Perform operational check, acceptance testing, and systemization of monitoring. Assist vendors in performing Maintenance. Provide technical support for this work. Specify maintenance equipment needs to complete assigned tasks (including electrical maintenance). Fabricate required components consistent with engineering specifications. Wear various levels of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) in the performance of assigned duties. Work in close proximity to and handle explosive configured munitions, components and residues. Work in environments with elevated temperatures. Maintain accountability of property, including tools and maintenance equipment. Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and Standing Operating Procedures (SOP's). May be required to works shifts, weekends, and holidays, as required to support processing. Understand and utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment (M&TE) in the performance of duties. Make periodic, routine tours through operating areas to ensure safe and efficient operations. Monitor assigned system parameters for trending towards deviation of established limits for current operating conditions, and performs appropriate corrective actions to prevent deviation from established limits. The I/E Technician completes Instrumentation & Electrical Maintenance (I&E) tasks within an industrial setting. Must also demonstrate strong client service skills as well as the technical skills related to PLCs, motor control valves, calibration techniques for a variety of industrial instrumentation equipment, and material control methods. What you'll do all day: Support Test Engineers with various types of testing to include: Infrared Data Collection, UAS/CUAS, Target Vehicle Operations, Aircraft Survivability, Sensors, LASERS, Radar, Force Protection Systems, Integrated Base Defense. Assist with Network Installation and Management, Test Setup, Execution and Test Tear-down. Help develop requirements, procedures, and unique test methods. Support equipment maintenance and inventory (researching vendors to order new/replacement items, and shipping of items/equipment to test locations. Ensure that all instrumentation/test equipment is properly maintained and setup. You will love this job if you: Are a self-starter and require little oversight to complete given tasks? Candidate must be able to come to work early, stay late, and work in shifts as testing schedule dictates. Candidate must be willing to work paid overtime hours and travel at least 30% of the year. Candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidate must be both mechanically as well as electrically inclined. Candidate shall possess basic computer skills, to include the ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and the ability to prepare informal test reports. Candidate must work well with others, have a strong work ethic, be a motivated self-starter, be well organized, and be on time to work. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants) Desired skills and experience for this position: Active Secret Security Clearance preferred. Prefer seven years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization or three years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and four years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area. Prefer both mechanical and electrical experience in the testing of military weapon systems. Prefer experience in operation of target vehicles for test operations.
