**About this role**
The **Building Automation Technician Supervisor** is a team leader of a selected number of **Field Engineers (FE).** Their primary responsibility is managing and training of their direct employees and verification of their work. They will be responsible for mentoring new hires into new construction field operations and current Field Engineers (FE's). They are responsible for working with the Project Management group in coordinating the timely completion of all assigned projects. Ensure the field staff has the proper knowledge to perform that work and is executing their work at or under the project-specific budget. Primarily responsible for coordinating all resources, internal and external, necessary for the execution of the new construction project their FE's are assigned to in Cora PPM.
**Key Responsibilities**
COMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION
+ Provide necessary documentation and communication to all customer levels, sub-contractors (when necessary), and ALC Department Management as well as ensure that the appropriate members of the field operations department do so.
+ Ensure proper time utilization from timesheet collection, site visits, and daily logs in Cora PPM.
+ Follow up on all daily log collection (Cora PPM) for the Field Engineers working for you and ensure timely delivery to New Construction Administration and Project Managers.
+ Be able to utilize Cora PPM to generate reports, spreadsheets, and schedules when necessary.
+ Professionally represent Automated Logic in meetings and always be proactive in defending the company's best interest. Always be prepared for meetings, have the answers to questions that you know will be asked, and have the appropriate back-up personnel in attendance when necessary.
+ Lead, document, and participate in yearly and semi-yearly performance reviews for all of your employees
+ Communicate with Engineering, Graphics developers and programmers to provide feedback on quality, accuracy and standards development.
BUDGET
+ Thoroughly understand project budgets for negotiated projects that are executed by the Field Supervisor's team.
+ Continuously monitor work being performed by FE to ensure Quality Control. Provide continuous feedback to direct reports regarding performance, budgets and quality. Escalate any personnel concerns and proactively manage expectations of employees.
+ Attend and actively participate in turnover meetings, Pre bid meetings and other meetings deemed important to the job.
PROJECT PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
+ Collaborate with Project Manager in maximizing execution of projects by coordinating task assignment in Cora PPM
+ Participate in monthly meetings with Project Managers and the Branch Operations Managers to collaborate in assigning resources for all projects
+ Provide input to the Project Manager as to when resources will be needed on the project. This will include graphics, programming and technical checkout as required.
+ Coordinate project schedule with electrical subcontractors and other trades to maintain schedule. Maintain continuous communications with FE's, Project Managers, Customers and other trades to ensure consistent understanding of the project schedule. .
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
+ Field Supervisor will be or become proficient on all necessary ALC programming and graphical work for their assigned projects
+ Field Supervisor's will continue to provide technical assistance when needed. When workload dictates, they will be able to utilize other FE's to meet the project schedule.
LEADERSHIP & TEAM PLAY
+ Help develop and improve company standards.
+ Develop Mentoring plans and continuously train new and current FE's.
+ Participate in peer reviews, turnover meetings, post mortem meetings and close out meetings as required.
+ Assist in development of training and mentoring plans
+ Participate in and conduct interviews with potential candidates
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
+ Attends seminars, enrolls in self-study courses, and undertakes other self-improvement measures to maintain proficiency and improve job performance.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
+ Must have good understanding of systems software to read, test and make changes to logic as needed.
+ Able to create, download, and troubleshoot basic HVAC system logic using WebCTRL and associated software.
+ Communicates issues with Project Manager on a timely basis.
+ Good working knowledge with all WebCTRL software functions and utilities.
+ Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networks including wireless technology, including layout and troubleshooting.
+ Must be well organized with good time management skills. This position requires excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
+ Able to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
+ Able to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints.
+ Expert of control sequences for operation and control of mechanical equipment
**Basic Qualifications**
+ HS Diploma or GED
+ 5+ years of experience in the low voltage sub-contracting industry including the HVAC controls industry
+ 1+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
+ Clean and valid driver's license
+ Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
+ Ability to travel regionally with an occasional overnight stay.

What you will be doing?

* Must be able to trouble shoot the automated equipment and components as well as all other related automated, semi-auto or manual featured equipment. These will include devices like a servo motor and robotic control systems in our facility.
* Perform and demonstrate highly skilled knowledge of, and trouble shooting skills for, automation control systems throughout the facility. This will require a high level understanding of automation equipment which includes PLC, relays, sensors, PID Controllers, variable frequency drives, servos and motors.
* Must have skills and experience in creating and editing ladder and relay logic. Must also have a working knowledge of Visual Basic, and other basic programs.
* The individual must be able to use these skills to make connections to a PLC and proceed to line level logic as part of the identification for trouble shoot and repair all the automation problems, label printing and application on production equipment, and then document all work performed.
* Knowledgeable of sensor types and trouble- shooting on each type to determine good/bad.
* Duties include test, calibrate, adjust, repair, and maintain mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
* Works closely with Engineering to assist them in developing, and continually improving our production process and production machines by adding value and technology.
* Assembles and provides support to install mechanical, electrical control, electronic components, and equipment with or without documentation.
* Provide component part information and cut sheets needed for scope of position.
* Responsible for backing up all parameters and program file library for production equipment in a secure environment for access.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:
A two-year degree in Automation/Robotics, or a combination of automation experience/training.

The Automation Technician will provide technical expertise to the organization within the role by repairing and troubleshooting production automation and secondary equipment related to injection molding. This position requires someone that feels comfortable with a hands-on approach. Candidates needed for this position must be self-driven with strong problem-solving abilities and must be a strong team-player. Leadership and initiative skills are needed for this position to demonstrate required performance. The role reports to the Automation Supervisor and Production Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:
The primary role can include any combination of the following, but are certainly not limited to:
Repairing and troubleshooting production automation and secondary equipment, including lugging machines and lugging operations.
Diagnosing causes and implement long-term corrective action, make necessary repairs, verify effectiveness and necessary data collection.
Perform set-ups and changeovers of automated equipment in production as required.
Perform safety checks of automated equipment.
Assist in training other automation technicians
This role will include some or all the following:
Performing intermediate electrical wiring.
Performing intermediate pneumatic repair.
Performing intermediate industrial inspection cameras repair.
Installing and troubleshooting components of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical circuits.
Drawing and revising circuits for modifications.
Apply intermediate PLC concepts and PLC troubleshooting.
Order replacement components and tooling, as needed.
Perform robot troubleshooting and position teaching.
Validating performance of automation equipment, establishing a production rate, and recording information on P-Data form.
Assist in improving run time and scrap reduction.
Fine-tuning machines to improve efficiency, machine utilization, safety, and automation.
Troubleshoots internal logic online with laptop.
Understanding drawings and symbols.
Troubleshooting Servo Motors, Servo Valves, Proportional valves, and robotics.
Proves out performance and established a production rate and records on work order. Visually and dimensional inspecting parts per designated control plans and procedures.
Interpreting SPC charts and performing other required statistics, including Cpk and tolerance interval studies.
Interpreting blueprints.
Studying part prints in relation to molding, automation, or second operations.
Developing and implementing company training on general automation skills.
Maintaining clean shop and spare components areas.
Applying company guiding principles while carrying out job duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:
A two-year degree in Automation/Robotics, or a combination of automation experience/training.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have held a position in an automation or production field for at least 3 years.
MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Mechanical work experience, preferably in the assembly and disassembly of mechanical mechanisms.
Automated machine maintenance.
Automated machine electrical controls design.
Automated machine pneumatic & hydraulic systems.

Job Description
Primary responsibilities include providing CADD (Computer Aided Design Drafting) and field support services for the design and construction of municipal infrastructure improvement projects. Engineering Technicians are expected to possess and apply basic civil engineering design principles and construction methods both in the office and in the field. Engineering Technicians typically work in a team environment during the design and development of project plans. Technicians report to a Project Manager or Senior Engineer. Additional duties include CADD work related to graphics or drawings required for reports, proposals, and project interviews. This position may also include taking on the role of resident project representative (RPR) in the field during construction projects in Minnesota and possibly North Dakota.
Typical Tasks and Duties:
Prepare detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts from rough sketches, redline corrections, topographic surveys, etc. utilizing CADD Software such as AutoCAD/Civil-3D.
Follow direction and execute multiple tasks assigned by Project Managers, Project Engineers and Lead Technicians in the development of project plans and specifications.
Calculate dimensions, square footage, profiles of roadway and utilities, material quantities, etc. utilizing computer programs and calculator.
Continue to learn and proficiently utilize Computer Aided Design and Drafting software to prepare plan documents.
Understand and follow company CADD standards/procedures and client CADD standards when required.
Assist with and develop skills required for construction observation/inspection, surveying and materials testing.
Expect to take on and understand the role of resident project representative (RPR) and owner's representative on construction projects.
Communicate effectively with contractors, public, clients, and colleagues, even in times of stress and high-pressure situations.
Communicate frequently and effectively with supervisors and project managers to inform them of construction progress and potential issues in the field.
Document construction progress and quantities in field diaries and input data into automated computer record systems.
Attend company meetings, project meetings and client meetings on a regular basis.
Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail.
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
Participate in training opportunities that will develop technical and interpersonal soft skills.
Travel and out of town stays may be required; may work overtime especially during the construction season
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
A 2-year Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or a Technical Degree in Drafting is highly desirable (applicable experience may be accepted).
A minimum of 2-5 years of experience is preferred.
Working knowledge and willing to become proficient in AutoCAD/Civil-3D design software required.
Experience with other CADD software such as Google-SketchUP Pro or ARCMap GIS considered a plus.
Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments.
Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
A valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one.
Must be willing to travel and spend time out of town while fulfilling RPR duties or other business related responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
Required to work in an outdoors environment during construction season.
May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with construction observation and surveying.
Required to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Must work scheduled and required hours.
