About the Role:
This position supports the full lifecycle of BAS/DDC systems including installation, start-up, network configuration, and ongoing service. Projects include K-12 schools, hospitals, manufacturing plants, office buildings, and energy-efficiency retrofits across Kansas.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and terminate BAS wiring, controllers, sensors, and network devices
Perform point-to-point checkout, equipment testing, and full system commissioning
Troubleshoot control programming, communication issues, and HVAC system performance
Load, tune, and modify BAS/DDC programs using manufacturer software
Configure graphics, alarms, trends, and system dashboards
Diagnose issues with VAVs, AHUs, RTUs, boilers, and chiller interfaces
Interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation
Provide technical support to building operators and facility teams
Ideal Candidate:
2+ years of BAS/DDC controls experience

JOB SUMMARY
This role's primary focus is overhauling MTU Series 4000 engines; completely disassemble, rebuild and test the engine under full load at this facility. Both factory and in-house training provided with lean manufacturing principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect the engines for any missing or damaged components
Fully disassemble engines and all components
Inspect and qualify components that are to be reused
Clean and stage all components for reassembly
Assemble engines in accordance to OEM standards following our in-house process
Perform full dyno testing and quality control to ensure standards are met
Clean and prepare engines for paint in accordance to customer specifications
Seal up and package engines for shipping

Technical education in Automotive, Diesel or related field preferred

WORK CONDITIONS
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels. Job Description
The Senior Engineering Technician has mastered most testing and inspection tasks for construction materials and is able to provide site management of CMT projects. Based on the results of testing, he/she determines conformance/non-conformance of materials and provides results of tests and observations to on-site personnel. Ensures tests performed are completed in accordance with the Kaw Valley Engineering Quality Control Manual, appropriate ASTM, or other specifications as required by the project engineer or applicable standard; and that test results are properly recorded on the appropriate form and forwarded to the Laboratory/Field Supervisor for review.
Provides on-the-job training to newly assigned Engineering Technicians and ensures tests they perform are completed correctly, then signs off on successful training completion.
Provides annual competency evaluations to other Engineering Technicians.
Assists the Laboratory/Field Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, and acts as Laboratory/Field Supervisor in his/her absence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
High school diploma / GED
Substantial experience in construction materials testing and inspections.
Post-secondary education in Engineering, Surveying or Engineering Technology is preferred.
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology may be substituted for some experience in the construction industry.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform physical labor (i.e. lifting up to 75 pounds)
Must be able to traverse variable terrain on foot
Must be able to operate motor vehicles (typically full-size pickup trucks)
Will perform duties in variable environments and weather conditions/temperatures
May be required to climb stairs/ladders during the performance of job duties
