Responsibilities: Conduct patient screening procedures, such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides) Sterilize dental instruments and tools Instruct patients of all ages on proper dental hygiene and care Take X-rays of patients' teeth and develop them for dentist's use Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures Regularly and consistently meet quality and patient care standards established by management. Assist in patient recruitment and growth of clinic Performing documentation and establishing and maintaining patients' history Chart dental conditions based on dentist's observations and evaluations Attend continuing education classes to maintain certification requirements Conduct department activities and responsibilities as assigned by the dental director, including administrative and front office support, regulatory checklists and supply ordering Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygienist Program Possession of licensure to practice as a dental hygienist issued by the New York State Department of Education. At least one year experience in a dental office as a dental hygienist preferred but not mandatory Anesthetic certification preferred Rate: $34.00-$38.00 an hour.
