General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Performing various aspects of discipline design as directed by a senior or lead Architect including conceptual studies, program requirements, design analyses, calculations, systems selection and layout for building design * Preparation of programming documents, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents as directed * Preparation of marketing and presentation materials as directed * Performing various services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings as directed * Complying with quality control policies and procedures * Learn and implement department and company standards * Develop analysis and design skills * Participating in team meetings and coordinating efforts with other team members * Working with, responding to, and taking direction from Project Managers, Design Managers, Senior Architects, or Architects * Working with a team of architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects Required Skills * Should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, and information management. * Should have working familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to utilize the software in the development of project documents and interact with other project team members in their use of the software is highly desirable. * Ability to arrange housing for the period of employment * Ability to prepare effective and concise documents * Possess technical precision and creative design skills * Ability to make presentations to a variety of groups * Display abilities to work well with others in a team environment Required Experience * Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a NAAB accredited program as detailed below: * Students who have completed at least three years in an accredited 5-year Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch) program. * Students who have completed at least one year in an accredited Master of Architecture (M Arch) program. * Candidates participating in the Integrated Path to Architectural License (IPAL) program or in a University's Architectural scholarship program may be given additional consideration. * One previous architectural internship or have relevant work experience is preferred Working Conditions At JMT, we prioritize a healthy work/life balance and offer a flexible hybrid working schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required. The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of VINCI Construction, Dragados, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project -the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The project scope across a 9-mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45 diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. Principal / Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Research, plan, design, and administer engineering design project applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, zoning and building codes and building materials. Function as the primary contact coordinating the resolution of problems, reviewing progress, recommending alternatives and advising on project objectives.
