Utilize hand and machine tools for assemblies and to repair and modify gauges, and jigs etc. Work collaboratively with other departments to assist in both product design and design for manufacturing. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools and fixtures. File and finish workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly. Requirements: Experience with SolidWorks and CAM packages is preferred. Experience with Tooling and Fixturing is a necessary skill set. Fluent in reading customer drawings, specifications and sketches containing multiple views and sections. Must have the ability to accurately measure and perform all quality inspections throughout the process. Ability to use calipers, micrometers, surface table height gauges, dial indicators, gauge blocks and gauge pins. Manual and CNC background required Experience working in an AS9100 environment a plus. The Machinist will operate manual and CNC machines to fabricate and manufacture components for internal and external use for Gray America Corp. and its subsidiaries. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Operates fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts. Selects the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines. Examines and measures complete units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjusts machine controls to resolve production errors. Must be able to accurately read a micrometer, caliper, and tape measure Inspect machinery for any repairs needed; performs minor repairs within expertise. Utilizes Fusion Autodesk software to prepare G-Code for machine, tests results. Set up machine for runs Works with other machinists and maintenance team to determine best solution for machined part Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area.
