Automotive Diesel / Gas Mechanic
*We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and skilled mechanic who is self-motivated, accountable, and possesses strong customer service skills. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently and as part of a team and have experience with a diverse fleet of vehicles, Vans, Trucks, including gas and diesel-powered, and medium-duty diesel vehicles.
Employment Type: Full Time M-F
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determines vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules and inspections.
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting as needed.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Though most work will happen at the shop facility, there will be times where field inspections and repairs will need to occur. This position will be expected to work in all weather conditions.
Other duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Experience and knowledge of diesel/gas engines.
Ability to perform inspections/diagnostics and most repairs without supervision.
Computer proficiency.
Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
High school diploma or GED with one to three years of related technical experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training required.
ASE Certification(s) (preferred; but not required)

I. General Job Description
This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair on all types of commercial trucks and equipment while working out of the fully equipped mobile service truck. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis and repair of all vehicles and equipment serviced by the Company's facilities. This position will be expected to perform with the highest degree of professional competence, as it relates to quality of work, product knowledge, and customer service.

Responsibilities
Complete repairs in estimated time per industry standards.
Grow and maintain the customer base
Perform DOT inspection, troubleshooting, and repair on all areas of a vehicle including electrical, charging systems, starting systems, engine, HVAC, powertrain, and chassis components.
Repairs include diagnosis and removal of injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, main bearings, rod bearings, and transmission/clutch components.
Utilize various diagnostic equipment, software, and technical publications/information to determine root cause of customer complaint and repair solution.
Maintain service truck, supplied tooling, and parts inventory to Company's expectation.
Provide thorough documentation that supports complaint, cause, and correction.
Perform preventative maintenance when requested.
Respond promptly to customer requests and foster customer relationships.
Report to customer and service administration on any deferred repairs.
Flexibility to be available after hours and alternate days.
II. Minimum Job Qualifications
18 years of age.
4 years of dealer experience as a Diesel/Service Technician.
Valid Commercial Driver's License and a qualified MVR abstract.
Minimum tool requirements (see below).
III. Desired Job Qualifications
High school graduate or GED with 5 years of experience in a truck dealership or equivalent experience.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Great customer service skills.

Reports To: Maintenance Manager Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Swing Shift)
The Mechanic III is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations both in repair facilities and in the field. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this role supports both facility and field-based maintenance needs while assisting in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, WUTC, and OSHA standards, requiring strong technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and leadership in supporting junior mechanics and shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance
Safely operate vehicles and hydraulic components to access service points.
Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) and annual inspections per schedules.
Grease vehicles and equipment per established schedules.
Change oil, fuel, transmission, hydraulic filters, and perform fluid services.
Conduct brake, drum, clutch adjustments, and suspension checks.
Maintain oil levels in CNG compressors and perform scheduled CNG inspections.
Collect and submit oil samples as scheduled.
Inspect shop vehicles weekly and complete DVIR-related tasks.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Repairs
Diagnose and repair complex issues with electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on equipment both in the field and in the shop.
Perform DVIR repairs and certify work is completed safely and in compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards.
Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses, seals, and gaskets.
Perform manual and automatic transmission service and repairs.
Support rebuilds and major repair projects as assigned.
Provide input on feasibility and materiality of repairs.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I standards.
Accurately complete repair orders, PM checklists, and inspection forms.
Participate in facility safety audits (fire extinguishers, exit signs, oil containment, hazard prevention).
Support shop software implementation and inventory system improvements.
Collaboration & Leadership Support
Work closely with the Maintenance Department Lead to prioritize repairs and PMs.
Assist in mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices.
Participate in daily huddles and safety meetings.
Provide feedback on process improvements, equipment reliability, and training needs.
Qualifications
Proven experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, and suspension systems.
Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I compliance standards.
Ability to diagnose using both diagnostic software and traditional troubleshooting methods.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service literature.
CDL (preferred) or ability to obtain; clean driving record required.
Strong computer skills for work order documentation and diagnostics.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and drivers.
Work Environment & Schedule
Primarily swing shift (1:00 PM - 10:00 PM), Monday through Friday.
On-site at Pasco facility, with potential assignments in Walla Walla or Yakima.
Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to shop and outdoor environments.
Compensation & Benefits

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.

Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed.
Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer happiness.
Properly complete the service and/or repairs assigned by supervisor.

Ensure guest vehicles are returned as clean as they were prior to being serviced.

OVERVIEW
The Master Automotive Technician performs routine repairs and maintenance ranging from warranty, recalls, scheduled maintenance and customer pay. It is imperative that these tasks can be performed at the highest quality to ensure customer retention as well as an outstanding reputation. A successful candidate for the Master Automotive Technician position will have ASE Certifications or tech school degree, and at least 3 years of experience in an automotive repair environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drivability, electrical diagnosis and air conditioning repairs.
Routine repairs and maintenance related to warranty, recalls, and scheduled maintenance.
Operate inspection software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Valid Driver's License.
High school diploma or the equivalent.
ASE Certifications or tech school degree required.
At least 3 years of experience in an automotive repair environment including, heavy duty truck or automotive repair.
Must possess computer skills.
Must possess personal tools necessary to perform repairs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance.
Ability to operate all shop equipment.
Self-motivated and capable of working efficiently with little supervision.
Excellent communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The Master Automotive Technician will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete each essential duty satisfactorily. Reports To: Maintenance Manager Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Swing Shift) The Mechanic III is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations both in repair facilities and in the field. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this role supports both facility and field-based maintenance needs while assisting in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, WUTC, and OSHA standards, requiring strong technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and leadership in supporting junior mechanics and shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance
* Safely operate vehicles and hydraulic components to access service points.
* Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) and annual inspections per schedules.
* Grease vehicles and equipment per established schedules.
* Change oil, fuel, transmission, hydraulic filters, and perform fluid services.
* Conduct brake, drum, clutch adjustments, and suspension checks.
* Maintain oil levels in CNG compressors and perform scheduled CNG inspections.
* Collect and submit oil samples as scheduled.
* Inspect shop vehicles weekly and complete DVIR-related tasks.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Repairs
* Diagnose and repair complex issues with electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on equipment both in the field and in the shop.
* Perform DVIR repairs and certify work is completed safely and in compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards.
* Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses, seals, and gaskets.
* Perform manual and automatic transmission service and repairs.
* Support rebuilds and major repair projects as assigned.
* Provide input on feasibility and materiality of repairs.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I standards.
* Accurately complete repair orders, PM checklists, and inspection forms.
* Participate in facility safety audits (fire extinguishers, exit signs, oil containment, hazard prevention).
* Support shop software implementation and inventory system improvements.
Collaboration & Leadership Support
* Work closely with the Maintenance Department Lead to prioritize repairs and PMs.
* Assist in mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices.
* Participate in daily huddles and safety meetings.
* Provide feedback on process improvements, equipment reliability, and training needs.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
* Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, and suspension systems.
* Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I compliance standards.
* Ability to diagnose using both diagnostic software and traditional troubleshooting methods.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service literature.
* CDL (preferred) or ability to obtain; clean driving record required.
* Strong computer skills for work order documentation and diagnostics.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and drivers.
Work Environment & Schedule
* Primarily swing shift (1:00 PM - 10:00 PM), Monday through Friday.
* On-site at Pasco facility, with potential assignments in Walla Walla or Yakima.
* Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to shop and outdoor environments.
Compensation & Benefits
* Pay: $33.44 - $39.72 per hour DOE.
