Responsibilities
Assist with food preparation, including chopping vegetables and preparing salads.
Serve meals to residents according to dietary needs and portion sizes.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Interact positively with residents, staff, and guests, providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in food service or kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Maintain a positive attitude and effectively communicate with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership to perform daily tasks.
Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies
Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 30 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required based on State / County law.
Residency within the service area required

Responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the preparation, service, and clean up for meals served to residents in the nursing center. Maintains an attractive and sanitary dining room, meal service and delivery.
Principal Responsibilities
Assists with food ordering, storage and preparation as designated by the supervisor.
Assists cooks as directed by the supervisor.
Prepares and labels nourishments according to center procedures.

Prepare and serve food
Operate standard commercial kitchen equipment
Properly store and handle food items and supplies

Meet all standards of local, state and federal health and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) regulations

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Computer, kitchen utensils, standard cafeteria equipment
Posture: Prolonged standing, infrequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)
Environment: Work is located on campus site in a cafeteria; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Certified Texas Food Handler License required
Skills and Capabilities
Knowledge of food handler safety
Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation
Basic Math skills
Ability to carry out written and oral instructions; Ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve
Previous experience in food service
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
