Cleans and sanitizes all food preparation equipment and ensures that it is kept in safe and operable condition. Completes general cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation of work area. Assists with keeping Dietary department stocked with essential patient food items. Operates dish machine according to established procedures. Maintains records regarding patient diet information. Utilizes concepts of age/developmental stages in interactions with patients and families. May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards. Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule. Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization. Minimum Job Requirements Minimum Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. 1 year experience in healthcare food services preferred. Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation: Food Handler's permit preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of patient diets and safe food handling requirements and use of Nutritional Care Manual. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Demonstrates proficiency with general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain quality, Infection Prevention, and safety standards. Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality. Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift: A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling often for prolonged periods. This position may prepare and/or serve food items, prepare tables and trays, wash tableware and cooking items, perform general cleaning tasks and deliver soiled linen to the laundry department.

Weekends and Days off will rotate - must be able to work both 5 AM - 1:30 PM Shift as well as 11 AM - 7:30 PM Shift. These shifts will be rotating. Assists with preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques for patients, employees and special events, resulting in foods that taste good, are served at the proper temperature, and in an attractive manner in accordance with established standards. Maintains a clean and safe working environment in accordance with established standards. Other duties include: Taking out the trash, Ensuring the availability of clean dishes, utensils, and glassware, delivering food to the patient floors, restocking items, cleaning appliances and machines. sweeping and mopping floors. Document temperature readings of the dish machine during each shift. Pay: Rate of pay is based on years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Qualifications: Experience as a Prep Cook or Cook preferred, but not required. Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail. Food safety certifications as required by jurisdiction. (ServSafe) Work alongside Cooking staff to prep for daily meal service. Desired Qualifications: Experience in healthcare foodservice desired.
