Loads and unloads freight. Matches, counts and verifies freight with bills of lading and manifest. Complies with company and customer policies as well as Federal and State regulations in order to deliver freight undamaged and on time. **Essential Duties** + Perform daily pre-trip inspections and post-trip inspections on vehicles and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating conditions prior to departure. Ensure that mechanical, safety, ELD, and emergency equipment is in good working order. + Check shipping papers to determine nature of load and any special hazards, and, when feasible, to check load itself, and methods of securing it. Inspect the load before and after to determine the physical condition; read bills of lading to determine assignment details. Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate. Obtain receipts or signatures for services when required. + Operate vehicles in compliance with DOT, OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations, company rules and all applicable laws and regulations in accordance with all principles of safe driving. + Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes. + Pick-up and deliver freight as required as assigned. Drives truck equipped with capacity of more than three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Operates vehicle in accordance with CEI Safety policies, OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Follows planned and approved routes to transport materials as directed by Dispatch. Maintains electronic logs. Responsible for collecting and turning in load tickets daily. Contact management to discuss issues or concerns as they arise throughout the workday. Perform all post-delivery actions, including unloading damaged product, customer returns, and complete any necessary documents. Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations during the operation of the truck and handling of product. Monitor and ensure that temperature-controlled vehicles maintain required temperature limits to ensure product quality. Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and goodwill by providing professional assistance and by demonstrating an interest in the customer's needs. Report any complaints to Supervisor. Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices. Ensure that payment (cash, checks, etc.) are properly secured. Ensure that safety training is current as per company policy. Supports the Fleet Manager by ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Requirements: Education - High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience - 2- 3 years of commercial driving experience. Transportation of temperature-controlled product experience preferred. Customer Service - Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor. Work ethic - A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines with the ability to work with limited supervision. Licensing - Must have a valid Class A License. Environmental - Available to work long shifts and Saturdays. Language - Basic English-speaking proficiency. A combination of the above will also be considered.
