Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist / Speech Language Pathologist
Per Diem Variable Hours / Springfield Region
Pay Range: $50/hr - $55/hr
Easterseals Massachusetts is seeking a Per Diem AAC Specialist to join our Assistive Technology team. In this role, you will provide evaluation, consultation, training, and technical support services related to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for individuals of all ages and abilities. You will work in the community to ensure clients have access to effective communication tools tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive AAC evaluations and device trials
Develop and implement individualized communication plans with measurable goals
Provide training and education to clients, families, and caregivers on AAC strategies
Install and configure recommended AAC equipment
Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory and agency standards
Utilize tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook to manage caseloads and communication
Submit billing and paperwork promptly and accurately
What We're Looking For:
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
Valid/current professional license as a Speech Language Pathologist in Massachusetts
1-2 years of experience in AAC (preferred)
Experience with both children and adults; familiarity with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and organizational skills
Professional, collaborative, and flexible approach
Physical Requirements:
Must be willing and able to travel to/between various work locations including private homes

Provide speech and language therapy across different settings

Qualifications
Graduate of an approved master's level program in speech & language pathology
Valid/current professional license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Massachusetts

The Billing Specialist enters all client billing in Thom Billing Revised (TBR) and is responsible for the overall billing process in adherence to MassHealth and all other insurers billing procedures as directed by DPH Billing Manual and Thom Billing Manual. Serves as back to other Billing Specialists.
Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates activities with other EI Billing Specialist in the Framingham office.
Maintains a collaborative relationship with program office and other Thom offices.
Works collaboratively with other Thom Billing Specialists, both at the administrative office and at offsite locations.
Works collaboratively with program staff including service providers Insurance Coordinator to complete weekly billing process.
Demonstrates knowledge of all aspects of TBR and TC.
Maintains meticulous records of all communication regarding claim payment, including call logs and email communication.
Adheres to MassHealth and all other insurers billing procedures as directed by DPH Billing Manual and Thom Billing Manual.
Ensures that all activity sheets have been submitted by service providers on a weekly basis.
Reviews activity sheets for completeness on a weekly basis including verifying that a case note is available for each service listed on the Activity Sheets.
Collaborates with service providers to verify billing questions.
Completes synchronization of billing data from activity sheets from TC to TBR on a weekly basis in accordance to transmission guidelines and dates.
Bills, posts payments and follows up on claims for services to private health insurers, MassHealth, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Maintains confidentiality of client information pursuant to federal and state regulations and agency policies.
Ensures client files are properly maintained, stored, secured, and when appropriate, destroyed in compliance with the agencys document retention and destruction policy
Assists with record requests from Framingham office and external partners by obtaining necessary documentation from offsite locations as well as from client files stored onsite or stored electronically.
Assists in administrative duties including copying, filing and keeping office organized as needed. Assists with all general receptionist duties including answering the telephone, taking referrals, typing correspondence.
Updates and maintains assessment hours information in TC.
Designs special reports from TBR upon request of the Program Director.
Updates billing software and data as needed.
Communicates with Program Director to share updates on any billing-related problems.
Assists service providers to complete and submit waivers. Enters waiver information into TC.
Assists with support, orientation, and training of billing codes and rules to service providers.
Prepares TBR Reports for each clinical staff person.
Serves as back to other Billing Specialists.

Education and Qualifications:
A minimal educational requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
A minimum of three years administrative experience with strong interpersonal skills, general knowledge of insurance billing, computer literacy, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Minimum of one year of experience in medical billing.
Ability and interest in working with a team of professionals.

The Adaptive Aquatics Instructor is responsible for teaching and supervising water safety classes at the YWCA of Central MA swimming pool in Worcester, MA. As an Adaptive Aquatics Instructor, you will work with other Instructors and Lifeguards to lead fun safety activities and water games that maximize independence in the water. The swim program is open to individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families. Swim will be held on the first Saturday and the last Sunday of each month through June 2026 and the schedule is 1:30pm - 4:00pm.
During the months of July and August, our swim program takes place at Veterans Memorial, (Bennett Field), swimming pool in Worcester, MA. The summer hours are Friday mornings from 8:00am - 11am. 2025.
Essential Functions:
Be familiar with, and teach basic water safety skills
Be knowledgeable about aquatics exercise and its contraindications
Manage and instruct a group of 6-12 individuals with a range of disabilities (2 age groups)
Teach in accordance with the programming and leadership elements as outlined in the certification manual
Train and manage 2+ volunteers who will support activities with swimmers in the water
Recognize and respond effectively and appropriately to aquatic emergencies by using proper CPR first aid techniques as governed by the American Red Cross and MHS code procedures
Protect and maintain the dignity and confidentiality of others during stressful and/or emergency situations
Ensure participants compliance with safety rules and regulations as required by the DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation)
Enforce all DCR pool and state policies, rules, and regulations relative to the pool area for maintenance and potential hazards

Report unsafe conditions and faulty equipment to Aquatics Director or supervisor

Position Responsibilities:
Assist and/or complete initial intakes and provide follow-up referrals and/or interagency service coordination as needed.
Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments to determine the developmental needs of the child and the concerns and priorities of the family. The early intervention RN will focus on medical history, nursing assessment, as well as goals and objectives related to health, nutrition, and safety.
Participate in the development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) with families and collaborate with families to identify strengths and resources.
Provide services using a coaching model with children and families according to their IFSP. This may include home visits, child groups and parent groups.
Monitor developmental milestones and progress with parents/caregivers to inform ongoing need for direct service, consultation and/or assessment.
Provide parent/caregiver education on health and safety issues during home visits or parent education groups.
Complete progress notes, reports, assessments, and correspondence as appropriate.
Document all information necessary for the upkeep of client files.
Participate in developmental screenings in the community.
Attend program functions for clients and the public.

Position Overview:
The Adaptive Aquatics Instructor is responsible for teaching and supervising water safety classes at the YWCA of Central MA swimming pool in Worcester, MA. As an Adaptive Aquatics Instructor, you will work with other Instructors and Lifeguards to lead fun safety activities and water games that maximize independence in the water. The swim program is open to individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families. Swim will be held on the first Saturday and the last Sunday of each month through June 2026 and the schedule is 1:30pm - 4:00pm.
During the months of July and August, our swim program takes place at Veterans Memorial, (Bennett Field), swimming pool in Worcester, MA. The summer hours are Friday mornings from 8:00am - 11am. 2025.
Essential Functions :
Be familiar with, and teach basic water safety skills
Be knowledgeable about aquatics exercise and its contraindications
Manage and instruct a group of 6-12 individuals with a range of disabilities (2 age groups)
Teach in accordance with the programming and leadership elements as outlined in the certification manual
Train and manage 2+ volunteers who will support activities with swimmers in the water
Recognize and respond effectively and appropriately to aquatic emergencies by using proper CPR first aid techniques as governed by the American Red Cross and MHS code procedures
Protect and maintain the dignity and confidentiality of others during stressful and/or emergency situations
Ensure participants compliance with safety rules and regulations as required by the DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation)
Enforce all DCR pool and state policies, rules, and regulations relative to the pool area for maintenance and potential hazards
Complete attendance and incidence reports in a timely manner.
Report unsafe conditions and faulty equipment to Aquatics Director or supervisor
Other Functions:
Participate in Easterseals Water Safety and disability etiquette training
Create a respectful, fun, and social atmosphere for swimmers including both individual and group activities
Qualifications:
Current Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
American Red Cross CPR certified
American Red Cross Community First Aid & Safety certified
Must be 18 years of age
Preferred Experience:
Experience providing water exercise instruction to people with disabilities
