William E. Gavin headed a club of 12 teenagers with disabilities with the main goal of socialization. It all started in 1936 when Mrs.

The group formally organized in 1939 under the leadership of the Indiana Society for Crippled Children and leased a building at 30th and New Jersey streets.
Since then, Easterseals Crossroads has occupied buildings in various locations, but settled at 4740 Kingsway Avenue in 1990, where its main location exists today.
Completion of all aspects of the project will occur by 2020.
