Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Specifically relating to the mechanical and electrical systems:
* Lead the Turner project team, subcontractors, owner's consultants and representatives to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation.
* Prepare and manage the contract item's list for all components, materials, and systems to ensure that all ROJ dates are in compliance with the project schedule with the appropriate approval status.
* Participate in schedule update meetings and provide the latest information for an informed and accurate schedule.
* Evaluate and manage the processing of RFI's.
* Manage the budget including the review, evaluation, and negotiation of all change orders with understanding of the financial status of all subcontractors.
* Supervise, coach and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers.
* Co-lead the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer, ensuring overall installation is in compliance with the design requirements, operations and maintenance fundamentals, and quality standards.
* Prepare scope of work documents with a division of responsibility for trades and specific scopes of work for temporary operations.
* Partner with the MEP Superintendent to resolve conflicts between the mechanical and electrical systems with the site logistics plan and in compliance with the project schedule.
* Co-lead with the MEP Superintendent the overall turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning and closeout.
* Conduct regular project walkthroughs with the MEP staff to ensure that work is proceeding in accordance with the contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals.
* Identify and inform field staff of difficult installation requirements in sufficient time to allow for proper planning and execution.
* Manage and secure all municipal and agency documentation required for temporary certificates of information and system operation.
* Create and implement the quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relating to mechanical and electrical systems. Technical expertise and understanding of all mechanical and electrical systems that support the broad array of project types in our portfolio and how they interrelate with each other. Business acumen to plan, manage, and execute all the essential duties with excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational ability, and proficiency with computer applications. * Verify that all materials invoiced and work billed has been delivered to and/or completed at job site.
* Review and monitor labor costs, hours, and projections with superintendent(s).
* Provide monthly and quarterly information to project manager, vice president of operations and vice president of finance, including but not limited to: forecasted estimate on costs required for completion of project, outstanding extra work total costs, and amount that has been performed but un-billed, encountered busts in the bid, and pending claims.
* Assist in legal claims as necessary.
* Responsible for job closeout being performed in proper and efficient manner and keeping the project manager and vice president of operation informed of closeout status.
* Monitor crafts compliance with company/project safety program requirements.
* Assist safety manager with preparation, documentation, and distribution of accident reports.
* Assist in resolution of conflicts with client, a/e liaison, etc.
* Optimize the profitability of the company by demonstrating the ability of a decision maker with reliable and mature judgment.
Qualifications
* Indirect supervision.
* Fully competent in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area.
* Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standards.
* Devises new solutions to problems encountered.
* Independently performs most assignments with instruction
* Receives guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards.
* 3-5 years of experience in a related position.
* College/university graduate or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles

What You Will Do
As an Automation Specialist II you will be responsible for the design of control system details, instrumentation configuration, preparation for implementation, implementation, testing, documentation, and training.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls
Collaborates with project managers and estimators to assess potential projects and submit proposals.
Reads and interprets diagrams and documentation and communicates with customers to understand objectives and preferences.
Develops the overall architecture and communication strategy between control system elements.
Works with the customer and other stakeholders to define and document control system functionality.
Develops BOMs, IO lists, and requirements for control panels
Serves as the technical lead for small projects. This includes building PLC and HMI templates for the project.
Develops PLC programs in Ladder, Function Block, and other languages.
Develops the human machine interface (HMI).
Develops hardware and software test plans and writes simulation logic for the testing of the PLC and HMI system.
Develops a training plan and materials to train operations and maintenance personnel.
Communicates and coordinates with management of the installation team to ensure that technicians are executing per documented processes.
Tests the installed system to observe system functionality and ensure that the programs function as designed.
Troubleshoots problems that occur during startup that are caused by incorrect drawings, changes in customer desires, inaccurate instrumentation specifications, or other technical issues. Diagnoses and resolves software and hardware interface issues.
Trains customers on use and operation of client-specific system integration software.
Interfaces with manufacturers and vendors of software and application products, especially with regard to problem diagnosis and resolution.
Works with others to address design problems as necessary.
May respond to service calls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair programming and system failures.
Mentor and train less experienced employees.
What You Will Bring
The Basic
4 years Industrial Controls experience in architectural, engineering or construction (AEC) industry or similar field
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related Bachelor's discipline, related degree from a Technical College or equivalent Industrial controls experience
4 years of experience in PLC programming
Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems
Proficiency in PLC Programming including ladder logic, function block, and structured text
Familiarity with networking (Ethernet/IP)
Experience and knowledge of HMIs
The Preferred
6 years of experience in architectural, engineering or construction (AEC) industry or similar field
Proficiency with AutoCAD - Autodesk software
