    Provides leadership and direction in designing and developing consumer electrical/electronic products. Responsible for managing a group of technical professionals working on multiple projects to ensure that new products are completed to established specifications, scheduling, and product cost requirements. In addition to management duties, this role requires direct contribution to electrical design, development, and all related tasks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees the design of electrical/electronic products and ensures integration with product initiatives/strategies. Provides daily technical oversight and guidance over engineering design. Leads the management of projects from conception to completion by managing plans, milestones, reviewing assignments to ensure successful product launch. Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the mechanical and thermal design organization. Ensures projects are meeting productivity, efficiency, quality and organizational goals. Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality. Plans and allocates resources for new projects and future growth. Provides domain-specific expertise and overall leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities. Establishes and maintains design practices to ensure the most productive, highest quality work output possible. Partners with other functional management to resolve issues, plan strategies, and implement process improvement. Provides technical expertise, and acts as a subject matter expert internally or externally as needed to solve difficult technical issues and meet project, operating and engineering needs. Investigates core technologies to ensure we are integrating best practice, innovative/creative design and modern/current methodologies into our electronic products. Evaluates and recommends engineering changes to equipment or processes that will ensure maximum productivity. Researches vendors and manages contracted product development work. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES Manages, controls and recommends budgets within approved guidelines. Develops and revises departmental policies, procedures and guidelines to meet business needs. In partnership with human resources, performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes but is not limited to the following: hiring and terminating employees, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns and disciplinary counseling. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent. Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 7 years in electrical engineering that includes experiences leading and managing the design of complex, innovative electrical/electronic products. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Advanced knowledge of and skills in the design, evaluation and testing of electronic and/or electrical circuits and components. Management skills and experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively lead and develop direct reports to accomplish product development objectives and organizational initiatives and goals. Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of electronic design engineering principles, concepts, practices and theories. Demonstrated skills and experience in successfully leading projects from conception to completion and collaborating effectively with various teams for optimal results. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills to interact with and motivate diverse groups of people, present complex concepts and create technical documents. Working knowledge of pressure sealing principles; plastic injection molded part design; materials including plastics, polymers, and metals; aluminum die casting and extrusions; metal stamping; mechanical assembly methods; and mechanical test equipment. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly mechanical engineering, to ensure cohesive product design and manufacturing feasibility. General business acumen that demonstrates an understanding of the impact of product costs, manufacturing labor and overhead, and tooling depreciation on the gross margin of a product as well as the impact of departmental budgeting and expenses on the operating profit of the company. Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced proficiency with specific computer based analysis, simulation and design tools. Compensation range $140k - $180k (depending upon experience).
