Coordinate with Division Lead and Quality Control to resolve questions concerning serviceability and/or repair procedures. Ensure Quality Control inspections are complied with. Use common hand tools and publications to inspect, repair, service, troubleshoot, maintain and overhaul components and equipment. Document work accomplished on Maintenance Action Forms (MAF), Support Action Forms (SAF), METER Card and/or NALCOMIS. Use provided test equipment and other support equipment to perform assigned tasks. Read, interpret, and apply instructions from blueprints, drawings, schematics and other approved data. Ensure corrosion control cleaning, prevention, and treatment actions are performed as required. Must have all required personal tools within 30 days of hire or job assignment. Required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. Attend meetings/training when directed. May be required to perform Level I NDI functions when authorized or directed. Accurately complete and sign individual employee time sheet. Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials and equipment as required. Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and Tool Control rules and regulations including participation in FOD walk downs when directed. Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area. Comply with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment. Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished. Comply with established Hazardous Material/Waste Programs and Local, State, and Federal Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Perform simple computer input and extraction functions. May be required to perform duties of HAZMAT/HazWaste Custodian or Assistant Custodian when authorized and designated. Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of government owned and company owned equipment and property. Share technical knowledge with other company employees to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks. May be required to assist other employees in the performance of their duties during periods of personal or sick leave, vacation, breaks, reserve duty or during increased workload periods. Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed. May be required to pass a respirator physical and wear a respirator while performing work related duties. Assist in the search for lost tools/items when directed. May be required to operate a forklift. **_Minimum Qualifications:_** Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces Aviation Ground Equipment Maintenance School or other school(s) with equivalent curricula. Must have a valid state operator's license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements for support equipment and forklifts. Obtain and maintain all applicable GSE Licenses. Must have graduated from or complete within 30 days of hire, a Navy approved corrosion training course. Responsibilities * The airfield system encompasses four taxiway circuits, two runway circuits and one backup generator system * This system is a high voltage system (480v - 5000v) that includes six Constant Current Regulators (CCR), 770 individual lights and 100 lighted guidance signs, wind indicators, an airport beacon, a 2,400-volt transformer, a lighting control computer system tied to the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) * Monitor daily work orders and perform airfield light repairs * Perform preventive maintenance on the lighting systems by monitoring fluctuations and anomalies in the system * Work is performed through various meters and meggering systems. * Perform general maintenance, emergency repairs, replacement, relocation and refurbishment of all airport building and grounds electrical systems * Install changes to existing circuits or new circuits required for the operation of the airport based on airport, tenant and public needs * Must be able to read and understand lighting and ballast schematics to effect onsite repairs, understand motor control circuitry and photocell contactors * Must be able to read and understand construction plans as-built plans * Maintenance of the system requires the ability to effect repairs while causing a minimal disruption to the operation of the airport * Knowledge and understanding on the main power supplies to the airport * These include 7,400- and 12,470-volt supplies, transformers and switch gear * Requires mechanical checks of the engine, monitoring the automatic transfer switches, and monitoring the operation of the generator equipment * Perform basic mechanical checks of the generators and notify the airport equipment mechanic of any discrepancies for repairs * Weekly operation of the generators without loads to ensure that they are running properly * Collection and interpretation of the data from the generator runs and tests to determine if the generators are running per specification and that the loads are transferring properly * Assist the master electrician with the electrical feed transfers when the automatic systems are inoperable of maintenance is required on one of the two main power feed circuits to the terminal * Maintain current electrical licenses * Requires Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and recurrent testing * Replace electrical components that are inoperative, reset tripped electrical systems, and adjust photocells and times connected to various light circuits * Work with other sections (i.e. jet bridge mechanic, equipment mechanic, building technicians) to repair and replace electrical components of the building systems * Communications with component manufacturers to trouble shoot existing systems * Remain current with FAA Advisory Circulars on the certification, installation and operations of airfield lighting circuits and components * Performs other duties as assigned Position Type and Typical Hours of Work * Non-Exempt - Full-Time - Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm * Must be available to work additional hours as needed· * Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement * In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job. Duties and Responsibilities: • Report to supervisors regarding work completed referring unusual technical or personnel issues to the supervisor. • Construct, rebuild and repair District equipment and facilities including various wood and metal structures, equipment and furniture; prepare surfaces for painting and varnishing and apply surface coverings as required. • Perform various refrigeration, plumbing and heating-related duties; cut, thread, assemble and lay pipe; assist in the purchase, installation, repair and maintenance of various plumbing, heating and air conditioning fixtures; perform welding and metal fabrication; diagnose and repair electronic ignition systems for heaters, furnaces and hot water heaters. • Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements. • Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition. • Assist in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring and fixtures; perform troubleshooting to repair or replace fans and motors; perform repairs to motors, bells, clocks and lighting circuits and to communication and audiovisual equipment. • Estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies needed by the district. • Perform a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to doors, windows, roofs and other building parts; construct or assemble furniture and other wood and metal structures; install and maintain grand master lock systems and electrical security systems. • Perform skilled maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment; test and replace circuits; coordinate emergency repairs and large complex projects; troubleshoot and correct defective switches, receptacles, ballasts and other wiring; perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance. • Maintain various records related to labor, materials and work orders. • Purchase tools, equipment and materials; operate light trucks to pick up and deliver equipment and supplies. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Maintain regular attendance. Ability To: • Perform a wide variety of skilled journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of District facilities and equipment. • Interpret, explain and apply codes, rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities. • Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment. • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others. • Understand and follow oral and written directions. • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Estimate labor and materials costs. • Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately. • Work independently with little direction. • Meet schedules and timelines. • Maintain routine records. • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. • Observe legal and defensive driving practices. • Operate a District vehicle and perform heavy physical labor. • Lift heavy objects.
