Sound knowledge of wide range of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, NLRA, and statutes and regulations, and other labor and employment laws regarding hiring, termination, discipline, discrimination, retaliation, wages, restrictive covenants and other key areas Experience in advising on complex employment related disputes and issues. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Excellent drafting and legal interpretation skills. Sound analytical skills to review matters and identify key legal issues. Have a risk spotting mindset with a dedicated approach to compliance and ethical issues. Ability to effectively manage external counsel when required. Effective time management and organizations skills. Be able to partner across teams, to provide practical advice and solutions. Must be pro-active, be able to work independently and possess the initiative to drive projects and matters forward to resolution. Dedication to fostering an inclusive culture and value diverse perspectives.
Proven ability to take a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives in order to achieve strategic business results.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Graduate of an accredited and recognized Law School and member in good standing with a State Bar Council.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Summer Youth Employment Counselor is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and support to young adult participants in the various Paid Work Preparation & Career Exploration Programs offered in the Employment & Training Department during the summer months.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
:
The Summer Youth Employment Counselor is responsible for ensuring all clients who make up their "case load" receive a meaningful summer experience robust in activities which support "Work Preparation & Career Exploration". In addition to being able to work collectively with other year-round and seasonal staff, the SYE Counselor should possess the ability to engage local businesses and community partners to ensure successful worksite placement. Additional key program responsibilities include; creation of client individual career plan portfolio, applying results of client skills & interest assessment towards worksite placement; ensure application and eligibility documents are completed and present in the client file; completion and submission of all payroll related documents; identify and resolve any potential barriers that might interfere with clients ability to successfully complete the six week summer program; conduct pre-program worksite visit to develop job description aligned to client goals; complete regular bi-weekly worksite visits to ensure all stakeholders are fulfilling expectations as outlined in the worksite partnership agreement; completion of descriptive weekly case notes which include significant changes or updates and highlight program participation and progress towards established goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
:
Must be reliable and dependable; be able to work independently to meet program goals; possess strong computer skills including microsoft office, google platform & data entry; have valid driver's license, reliable transportation and motor vehicle insurance; be willing to undergo a comprehensive background screening check; knowledge of primary service area; previous experience working with at risk, LD population, aged 16 to 24; workforce preparation experience preferred; understanding of agency vision and mission, bilingual is a plus. Written and oral communication skills are a requirement.
