**Position Responsibilities**
+ Assist in the design of mechanical components and systems, including airframes, payload enclosures, ground equipment, launch systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies
+ Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using **SolidWorks**
+ Support simulation and analysis tasks using tools like **SolidWorks Simulation** or **ANSYS**
+ Participate in prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing using in-house tools and rapid prototyping methods (e.g., 3D printing)
+ Help generate technical drawings and bills of materials in accordance with industry drafting standards
+ Collaborate with engineers to support design reviews, testing activities, and integration of mechanical systems
+ Contribute to documentation and reporting of design progress and test results
+ Learn and assist in configuration control and engineering change processes
+ Perform other tasks as assigned to support ongoing development efforts
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)**

Business Unit: Vacuum Induction Melting
In the VIM, Vacuum Induction Melting, we take scrap material in bulk quantities and we add that material to a vessel that is surrounded by refractory and melted using a large coil creating a fluctuating magnetic field. Once molten, we pour that material, all under vacuum, into molds, and then ship to the next process.
Ongoing Projects
Thermal Camera utilization in the melt chambers to see operations through smoke and cloudy conditions
Trialing new material to use on the molten metal to prolong the life of the refractory
Process improvements to reduce the amount of time it takes to melt a heat
Safety improvements throughout the shop making the high traffic areas safe for personnel interacting with mobile equipment
Your Role as an Intern
You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:
Interns will assist in process engineering improvements, safety improvements across the shop, proper documentation of SOPs, JHAs, and SSWPs. Drive improvements across the vacuum department with help and guidance of already in place PE and MSS.

Pay Range

Summer Internship Project Overview:

Throughout the summer, interns will support the continuing operations of the plant alongside senior engineers, working hands-on with equipment such as distillation columns, adsorption beds, diaphragm compressors, gas distribution panels, instrumentation, and programmable logic controllers. In addition, interns will manage an independent plant expansion or productivity project with final presentation. Interns will perform engineering and project management work like creating designs in AutoCAD, sizing equipment, building parts lists, and maintaining a project schedule and budget. Interns will collaborate with project managers, process engineers, operations, procurement, safety, and other business groups.
