Assist with resolving design and production issues.
Produce detailed production drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
Design progressive dies and automated machinery components.
Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor.

Collaborate with tool & die makers throughout the build process.
Review reference documents, customer specifications, and engineering input.

Qualifications/Must Haves:
3+ years of 2D AutoCAD experience.
2+ years of progressive die design (mandatory)

Ability to collaborate with tool & die makers and manufacturing teams.
3+ years of 3D CAD experience (Inventor preferred, SolidWorks a plus)
4-10 years of experience in progressive die design or automation design.
Strong understanding of dimensioning, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
All education levels will be considered; equivalent practical experience is fully acceptable.

The Role
Be Part of a fast paced, leading edge Automation Equipment Design and Manufacturing company. In this position will be responsible for timely and quality completion of equipment design per the customer specifications. POSITION DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Design and/or modify parts and assemblies on new and existing products. Maintain and process CAD and engineering documentation changes and updates. Provide design support to Gast engineering as well as customers and suppliers when needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Design/create/modify parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks.
+ Complete engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) and New Model Part Requests (NMPR's).
+ Take part, possibly lead, engineering projects, including development and/or testing projects.
+ Participate in design reviews, as the designer or as a source of design feedback.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
+ Design for manufacturing knowledge (machining, casting/molding, and/or sheet metal/forming).
+ Mechanical aptitude in concert with a command of oral and written communication. Able to effectively articulate complex geometries and design ideas to people of varying technical backgrounds.
+ Time management skills and ability to prioritize simultaneous tasks/projects as needed.
+ Experienced and proficient with SolidWorks (or AutoDesk Inventor or Fusion 360). Experience and exposure to EPDM (or other PDM system) ideal.
+ Must be able to physically demonstrate and verbally articulate proper modeling techniques and design intent.
+ Ability to read prints as well as interpret and apply GD&T is a plus.
+ Ability to read and write in English.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
+ Pursuing Degree in Design or a related technical field
+ GPA ≥ 3.0
+ Must be a sophomore (minimum) at time of application.
+ Must not be set to graduate before conclusion of internship.
+ Prior internship experience preferred (not required).
+ Demonstrated ability to operate 2D and 3D CAD system to design and components
+ Demonstrated ability to apply proper detailing requirements to engineering prints
+ Fluency in SOLIDWORKS (or AutoDesk Inventor or Fusion 360) with strong component and assembly modeling
+ FEA, CFD, and additional simulation experience a plus
+ 3D printing experience is a plus

The Role
As a Controls Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with the Controls Engineering team, Technical Leaders, and cross-functional teams to support meeting the vision of the Controls group. You'll contribute to project success by helping with documentation, troubleshooting, and integration tasks while learning from experienced engineersin a collaborative environment. This position reports to a Controls Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Utilize cutting edge technology and software to develop software solutions to a variety of industries
* Support the electrical and mechanical design teams
* Contribute to 1-5 active and real-world projects on a daily basis
* Support and contribute to effort of the Controls Engineering team
* Contribute to automation design, debug and acceptance testing within the department
* Work closely with your project team to find solutions to achieve targeted functional outcomes within defined budgets and timelines.

Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Associate Engineer for the Laundry division's Aesthetic team. This role will be based out of our St. Joseph Tech Center, in Benton Harbor, MI. This role is onsite and note remote.
You will collaborate globally with cross-functional teams to deliver superior quality products across Whirlpool brands, ensuring alignment with company targets and consumer needs. As an Associate Engineer, you will lead efforts to understand emerging trends, seek out real-life insights, and apply these learnings to design solutions that will impact the next generation of home appliances.
This role may require international and domestic travel to collaborate with global design studios, attend workshops, conduct research, and participate in project reviews. The frequency of travel will vary based on project needs and business priorities. Your responsibilities will include
* Work with key stakeholders (Design, Marketing, Manufacturing,...) and globally distributed teams in defining the release schedule, ensuring all proper sign-offs are in place to deliver our consumers
* Develop the technical solutions that will enable product leadership.
* Drive New Product Development / Cost & Quality projects for Laundry business with a focus on Aesthetics & structural components (Washer & Dryer Doors, Front Panels and Top panel)
* Concept development, design creation, concept evaluation & selection, verification & validation and implementing into production (plastics, sheet metal, rubber and glass components)
* Work with procurement and suppliers to coordinate developing the tools by running the DFM's and manufacturability reviews
Minimum requirements
* Bachelor's Degree inEngineering
* 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Design/create/modify parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks.
Complete engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) and New Model Part Requests (NMPR's).
Take part, possibly lead, engineering projects, including development and/or testing projects.
Participate in design reviews, as the designer or as a source of design feedback.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Design for manufacturing knowledge (machining, casting/molding, and/or sheet metal/forming).
Mechanical aptitude in concert with a command of oral and written communication. Able to effectively articulate complex geometries and design ideas to people of varying technical backgrounds.
Time management skills and ability to prioritize simultaneous tasks/projects as needed.
Experienced and proficient with SolidWorks (or AutoDesk Inventor or Fusion 360). Experience and exposure to EPDM (or other PDM system) ideal.
Must be able to physically demonstrate and verbally articulate proper modeling techniques and design intent.
Ability to read prints as well as interpret and apply GD&T is a plus.
Ability to read and write in English.

Pursuing Degree in Design or a related technical field
