Structure
You will primarily split your time between office and field work, but you will also spend up to one week in one of our soil labs! You will be supported by a Servant Leader, a Go-To buddy, technical leaders, project managers, and others to help you have a successful
Requirements
Field Goals (as scheduled TBD on availability)
· Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing.
· Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction.
· Understand how geotechnical recommendations and designs are implemented
· Gain experience working on large-scale construction projects.
· Become certified to operate a nuclear gauge through onsite training
Office (Design/Analysis)
· Goal: Put it together…Synthesize knowledge of construction materials on 'micro' and 'macro' scale into engineering analysis and design
· Depending on knowledge base, assist technical staff in a variety of roles
· Drafting, calculations, cross-sections, developing lab programs, boring logs, report preparation
· As appropriate, client engagements and meetings
Laboratory - Spend one week in one of our four Lab Locations - San Ramon, Lathrop, Rocklin or Valencia
· GOAL: Expand understanding of construction materials properties; increase familiarity with standard testing procedures.
· Work with ENGEO laboratory operations systems
· Assist with laboratory tests, including:
· Compaction curves
· Cylinders
· Atterberg limits
· Gradation

To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking an Avionics Engineering Technician level I, II, or Sr to support design, integration, testing, and maintenance of the Talon-A hypersonic vehicle electrical and avionics systems. You will create shop definition including drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions. You must be comfortable as a liaison to the shop to install and modify existing aircraft subsystems. This position will include evaluation of a broad range of technical data. Candidates must have an aerospace development background and relevant experience in aerospace systems integration
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Support the flight operations by acting as the engineering liaison to troubleshoot electrical and avionics ground test issues
+ Design, manufacture, and operate electrical ground support equipment
+ Create drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to install or modify electrical and/or avionics subsystems
+ Support the shop by acting as the engineering liaison to troubleshoot documentation issues and provide real-time support on the shop floor
+ Regular and comprehensive communication to your lead

The Manufacturing Engineer (Intern) is a learning-contributor to the Manufacturing Engineering organization. The Intern is expected to be a contributor in manufacturing planning, tooling and processes including research, analysis and documentation. The Intern's primary deliverable will be the fulfillment of assignments in support of ongoing manufacturing and support activities. The Intern works in a team environment working with both external and internal customers.

The following is a list of duties, tasks, work activities and/or functions the Intern Manufacturing Engineer will/may be required to perform:
The Intern will be responsible to complete planning assignments using Syteline, SmarTeam, CATIA and Microsoft Products in support of ongoing production programs under the guidance of engineers within the organization.
The Intern will be responsible to assist with new development programs including planning the production process, researching requirements, providing proper tools, evaluating improvement needs and managing customer data.
The Intern will be responsible to evaluate and provide recommendations to production issues discovered on the shop floor. This will include research, collaborating with other team members and providing updated or “red lined” planning.
The Intern will be responsible to work in a team environment including internal team members and suppliers. An Intern must be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively to achieve the program goals.
The Intern will be responsible to assist with requirements management including reading, assimilation, decomposition and tracking compliance to requirements defining the design (geometry, interfaces, envelope, function, features, stress, materials, processes, environment, etc) of a specific item.
The Intern will be responsible to support planning and departmental activities as required. This responsibility will require the Intern to be flexible, self-starting and willing to learn.
Must perform other reasonable and related duties as assigned by supervision.
Required Skills:
The Intern position is considered a part time position as the Intern is expected to be an actively enrolled student in an accredited university. The Intern must be in a Bachelor of Science (BS) curriculum in Engineering (or working towards this goal). The intern weekly hours will be adjusted each semester, or as needed, to enable the intern to attend classes.
Completion of 2nd year level (3rd year is ideal) college courses in support of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering with a strong curriculum emphasis on manufacturing systems and lean (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred). An equivalent number of years of experience in related or supporting job functions, or completion of only one year may be considered.
Must be diligent, highly organized and able to think critically.
Prior experience as a summer intern in the area of engineering is preferred.
Completion of Computer Aided Design classes and drawing reading (GD&T, Bill of Materials, engineering requirements) experience is preferred
Prior extracurricular experience such as First Robotics, hands on mechanical experience or other related experience is preferred.
Must possess strong communication skills necessary to exchange detailed written and verbal information communicated in English.
Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel.
