In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of industrial processes, and travel to various customer locations typically in your region/state, with all travel expenses paid. The work is conducted safely outdoors, on emissions source platforms, often at elevated heights, so you must love being outside. Starting pay rate is $20-$22 per hour, with generous quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and plenty of overtime available, the annual salary is estimated to be up to $48K in first year. Duties & Responsibilities: In this important position, you will conduct Stack Emissions Testing including equipment preparation, deployment, staging/breakdown, sample collection and recovery. This is a customer focused and fast paced position primarily responsible for receiving and processing funds received in person at the landfill and transfer sites. Duties/Responsibilities * Greets and directs customers to appropriate areas for materials disposal; informs customers of disposal guidelines; determine volume or weight and physically inspect loads; determines correct material codes; receives customer payments; and promotes recycling program. * Determines customer counts, balances funds, prepares bank deposits, and records transactions daily; and, secures logged deposits in safe awaiting pickup by Supervisor or armed guard security vendor. * Secures money and facility in accordance with Division standard operating procedures. * Maintains office, scale house, transfer station, and equipment; inspects, cleans and maintains grounds and scales daily. * Schedules site maintenance as needed. * Provides support and training to new staff and temporary employees. * Coordinates container pickup with contractor; tracks container transports. * Monitor container levels and redistribute refuse regularly, as needed. * Performs collection of special waste materials (ex. Antifreeze, batteries, cooking oil, motor oil, paint, propane tanks, refrigerators, etc.); performs initial cleanup of spilled materials and/or contaminates. * Develops and maintains reports and logs, copies and restocks flyers and brochures, executes filing, office work and document record keeping as required. * Performs related duties. Required Technical Skills and Experience * Bachelor of Science in Engineering * 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong analytical skills, organizational, and multitasking skills * Ability to solve basic calculations and unit conversions * Experience presenting analytical results in tabular and graphical forms * Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) * Willing to commit to field assignments of up to two weeks away from Anchorage * Possess valid driver's license Preferred Technical Skills and Experience * PFAS remediation * MS Degree in Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Science * Groundwater, surface water, and soil sampling experience * Skill/experience conducting hazardous materials surveys and sampling. * Experience in technical writing * OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification * Understanding of industrial operations and equipment, large and small * Knowledge of Alaska environmental regulations Responsibilities * Work with clients from a variety of industries * Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples * Review State, Federal, and Local regulations for applicability to site cleanup * Assist other SLR teams with work in a variety of disciplines including air monitoring, waste management, permitting, and compliance * Travel to clients' facilities for inspections and document review * Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments Personal Attributes and Traits * Self-motivated and detail oriented * Comfortable with public speaking * Ability to effectively prioritize work and contribute to project teams * Excellent time management skills * Understands budgets and deadlines * Needs little oversight on common tasks * Dependable and predictable * Professional work ethic Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) are at the core of who we are and want to be.
