Key Responsibilities
Manage environmental investigation and remediation projects.
Conduct complex quantitative and technical analyses.
Supervise field activities and ensure accurate interpretation of results.
Prepare and edit technical proposals, reports, and documentation.

Qualifications

Excellent verbal, written, and public communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical expert on matters relating to air pollution control, water and waste infrastructure, associated regulatory compliance programs, and emissions.
Prepare permit applications including renewals and modifications.

Environmental Specialist IV
Environmental scientist job in Cincinnati, OH
**Duration: 36 Months** **Note:** + **Full time, hybrid, 3 days/week in office.** **Travel:** + **The travel would consist of local travel to Client OH/KY region (~1-2 hrs. outside of Downtown Cincinnati) with rare overnight trips. The CW will drive their personal vehicle with mileage reimbursed. The anticipated weekly schedule would be ~50% in the office & ~50% in the field but will vary based on workload.**
**Job Description:**
+ Responsible for evaluating, preparing, and submitting federal, state, and local site permits for the site development of Transmission capital project work concerning regulated electric transmission substations and lines.
**Responsibilities Include:**
+ Responsible for providing functional direction in preparing site development permit submittals for all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and compliance assurance support related to Transmission capital project work.
+ Serve on project teams to provide expertise on permitting, site design and overall permitting requirements.
+ Maintain comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements and working knowledge of their impact to Transmission projects.
+ Provide support to the Transmission Construction team so ongoing Transmission capital projects remain in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
+ Works independently to determines and develop approaches to solutions.
+ Serves as a transmission site development permitting expert for capital transmission projects and provides specialized technical design expertise and judgment to resolve complex permitting issues. Maintain project schedules and accountability for meeting specified schedules for permitting tasks.
+ Track project schedules and task in Team Member. Develop processes and maintain appropriate permit records as needed.
+ Overnight travel (25%) occasionally required. Fieldwork requires ability to navigate and work in all weather conditions and uneven terrain.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences or other related field of study
+ Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience.
+ Proficient in obtaining and federal , state, and local site development permits within the state of Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience obtaining regulatory approvals from within multiple regulatory jurisdictions or agencies in the state of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky (i.e. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, State Historic Preservation Office, Indiana DEM, Ohio EPA and Kentucky E&EC).
+ Ten years of experience supporting and managing electric utility, land-development projects and/or linear construction projects.
+ Excellent negotiating skills with regulators and the public regarding the environmental permitting of land development projects
+ Demonstrate ability to successfully influence outcome with a high level of collaboration within a project team setting.
+ Professional certification/ license (i.e. CPESC, QEP, PWS, PE)
+ Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, natural sciences, civil / environmental engineering, or environmental science.

Job Description
Position Purpose:
This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to our clients. Responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Will travel over night once per week.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities:
Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.
Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.
Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste.
Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities
General duties include preparation of environmental documentation under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements, conducting wetland and waterway delineations, preparation of “Waters” reports, preparation of waterway permits, assisting in the preparation of. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, preparation of wetland and/or stream mitigation plans, conducting mitigation site monitoring, conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, general environmental consulting, proposal support for development of new business and other duties as assigned.
Technical Duties:
Perform field data collection for environmental investigations and natural resource surveys
Collect and compile environmental data from samples of soil, water, and other materials for analysis
Collect and compile geographic information for project site(s) including, but not limited to, use of global positioning system (GPS) instruments
Preparation of maps depicting environmental data collected, including development of project-specific maps utilizing geographic information system (GIS) software
Analyze samples, surveys, and other information to identify and assess impacts to the natural and human environment and identify mechanisms to avoid, minimize or mitigate for impacts
Develop plans, technical reports and/or permit applications to document impacts to the natural or human environment
Coordinate regularly with applicable government agencies to identify natural and socio-economic resources potentially affected by assigned projects
Understand and maintain proficiency with environmental regulations applicable to the development of transportation and other civil works projects
Assist in the planning and execution of public participation and outreach for projects, including but not limited to preparation of legal notices, preparation and delivery of presentations to the general public, governmental officials, and businesses regarding environmental impacts

Client Coordination:
Maintain positive relationships with clients to assist in resolving project questions such as project scope, environmental procedures, and schedule

Summary:
The Environmental Engineer 2 supports plant environmental strategic and operational environmental initiatives at the Jeffersonville site by planning, facilitating, and communicating in alignment with regulatory requirements, plant direction and L-H Battery environmental business plan to ensure plant environmental compliance and achieve plant environmental performance (energy, water, and waste) targets.
Responsibilities:
Manage and interpret department & plant environmental performance to comply with government regulations and company standards as well as other environmental obligations.
Assist in plant environmental communication and collaboration with both internal (depts or management within plant, Communications, Legal) and external (other OEM's, trade associations, government agencies, general public) stakeholders for awareness of status, benchmarking, critical issue escalation, initiation of necessary action items, and promotion & diffusion of environmental programs, and protection & promotion of the L-H Battery brand.
Monitor and evaluate current environmental regulatory conditions and changes to the regulatory landscape to set plant direction & strategy; ensure environmental programs are developed to address changes.
Report plant environmental performance (energy/water/waste/CO2) metrics, coordinate and implement plant environmental business plan themes and projects/permits by applying PDCA to reduce risk and improve environmental characteristics.
Review, as the environmental advocate, plant projects and change points against the L-H Battery and plant environmental standards for environmental impact to promote & ensure environmental policy and direction are achieved.
Plan and review routine environmental compliance (air, water, waste) and performance (KPI's, metrics) activities, reports and permits, ensuring appropriate countermeasures are implemented and effective; review and approve plant environmental metrics reports to ensure accuracy and target achievement.
Identify and plan for plant environmental budget (resources) to properly execute effective and efficient plant environmental management programs.
Provide guidance of plant environmental standards, systems, methods, and procedures to meet government regulation and company standards as well as other environmental obligations.
Disseminate environmental knowledge within the plant; create and execute training to ensure associate competence and success in meeting environmental targets/goals/objectives.
Check effectiveness & viability of plant data management systems and approve their use as tools to efficiently track and manage environmental compliance and performance.
Assist and approve contractor SOW(s) (Scope of Work) for waste management, waste water operations, water treatment operations (as applicable), stack testing, consultants, utilities, energy procurement service provider, and support environmental strategies/requirements; periodically evaluate contractors to ensure work or service provided maintains adherence to standards / procedures.
Facilitate L-H Battery internal (plant, department) and external (government agencies, third party ISO 14001) audit programs to confirm effectiveness and identify gaps & opportunities for improvements in the environmental program.
Coordinate and implement timely department countermeasures addressing environmental audit & performance gaps to ensure effectiveness of environmental program.
Identify and implement improvement ideas and projects to reduce L-H Battery environmental impact.
Act as liaison between dept and plant environmental team for dept projects and change points to ensure environmental policy and direction is implemented and achieved.
Create and perform environmental training content and assign/track department & plant training requirements to improve associate competence.
