The Environmental Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures to ensure the organization's compliance with environmental regulations and to promote sustainability. This role involves leading environmental programs, managing audits, preparing regulatory documentation, and driving continuous improvement inenvironmental performance. This position reports to the EHS Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations

Prepare, manage, and submit permits and regulatory reports (e.g., air, water, waste, hazardous materials)
Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).

Position Description:
The Bioprocess - Technical Services/Manufacturing Science (TS/MS) role provides technical support to ensure the reliable and compliant manufacture of gene therapy drug substance at external contract manufacturing groups and, when needed, at LP2, in accordance with global quality standards. This person interacts daily with a wide variety of people, including external partners, process team members and site management.
The candidate will be responsible for technical transfer, process validation, process stewardship and process monitoring, and will demonstrate a proactive attitude to issue resolution. A strong understanding of manufacturing principles is required to ensure those same standards are applied to the external contract manufacturers. RES is accepting applications for an Ecologist with 5+ years of experience for our Chicago, IL or Southern Wisconsin offices. The Ecologist will need knowledge and experience in a wide range of ecological disciplines such as botany, soils, wetlands and water, wildlife biology, and restoration, as well as the regulatory environment of mitigation projects. This position will support our clients and operations teams with knowledgeable ecological consulting and high-quality project delivery across a variety of ecosystem restoration and mitigation projects.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
Prepare ecological studies and scientific reports, restoration plans, natural resources assessments and management plans and designs for projects.
Perform ecological field assessments throughout the Midwest, such as vegetation monitoring, wetland delineations, and species and/or habitat surveys.
Understand state and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes related to mitigation, specifically CWA Sections 404 and 401 and threatened and endangered species laws.
Participate in company-wide business development activities which may include preparing proposals for new work.
Develop new opportunities for the local office and others within the company by connecting with new and existing clients.
Establish and promote excellent working relationships with clients and customers, regulatory agencies, and conservation groups.
Manage ecological project tasks, company personnel, equipment, and other resources.
Coordinate, advise, and collaborate with others in the field, including company personnel, site managers, planners, members of the public, and others as needed or directed.
Participate in creative problem solving for projects and improve processes for data gathering, assessments, analysis, reporting, team coordination, and project management.
Maintain accurate records of time and expenses in the company's information management system, prepare accurate and timely invoices, adhere to company SOPs, and perform other administrative requirements as required.

Bachelor's Degree in ecology or related field, such as wetland science, botany, wildlife biology, and 5-7 years of experience in ecological profession (required)
Advanced knowledge of local and regional flora, fauna, and ecological systems. Demonstrated ecological identification skills, including plants, animals, ecological communities, wetlands, soils, and others as necessary.
Experience with GPS units, ArcGIS, and/or other ESRI field data collection software.
Thorough understanding of restoration ecology theory, principles and practices and ability to apply to projects.
Experience with state and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes, specifically, CWA Sections 404/401 and state and federal endangered species programs.
Demonstrated ability to perform professional ecological work, such as independent studies, complex data analyses, and development of restoration plans.

Job Summary

Position must follow established City policies and procedures. Independent judgment is utilized when there are no available policies and procedures or risk of bodily injury or property damage. Position reports to the Land Stewardship Manager. This is a grant funded term position not to exceed five (5) years or the grant completion date, whichever occurs first.

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources or a related field and five (5) years of restoration experience required.
Applicant must demonstrate knowledge of the natural history of Central Indiana and have skills in native and invasive plant identification and control. Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills and ability to learn new computer programs and software applications including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Publisher. A working knowledge of GIS applications specifically ArcGIS, and Trimble GPS hardware and software programs. Must be self-motivated and be capable of working with minimal supervision. Must be able to obtain Indiana Commercial Pesticide Applicator License for Category 6 or approved equivalent. Requires lifting up to fifty pounds. Fieldwork may include the use of hand and power tools such as chainsaws, brush cutters, augers, herbicide sprayers, etc. Valid driver's license is also required.

What can you expect?
As the Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will work on-site in Anchorage or Lower 48 and participate in collecting (providing field support as needed including site supervision), synthesizing, and documenting data relating to environmental compliance (stormwater, wastewater, air quality/emissions, oil storage, hazardous materials, and/or waste) regulations, and assisting in the preparation and/or review of permits, pollution prevention plans, and regulatory-driven reporting. In addition, this position requires some travel to project sites for fieldwork.

* Conduct and oversee site surveys/assessments and evaluations in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by project management staff.
* Adhere to schedule and financial objectives, controlling time and expenditures to achieve project goals.
* Work with environmental technical staff in data collection, site surveys/assessments, and evaluation of data collected in support of environmental project objectives.
* Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.
* Review and document the processes necessary to obtain, develop and/or update environmental permits and plans, regulatory-required reporting, registrations, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental compliance objectives.
* Review and provide documentation of environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet all appropriate requirements.
* Determine data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and evaluations.
* Perform miscellaneous job-related duties or other duties as assigned.
* Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

* PE or other professional license preferred (or ability to obtain license) or national accreditation a plus.

What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR), working at our Northeast District Office in Summit County. You are at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking for a focused, goal-oriented person to join our DERR team in Northeast Ohio!
As environmental specialist, you will perform district Site Coordinator and RCRA Inspector duties for assigned remedial action and hazardous waste handling facilities. You will review and prepare work plans, sampling plans, reports, and technical memoranda associated with properties undergoing site assessment and cleanup activities through Ohio's Voluntary Action Program or other state and federal cleanup programs.
You will inspect facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations and permit requirements, as well as review and evaluate permit applications and modifications. You will also identify possible pollution prevention alternatives.
You are going to investigate complaints, perform assessments of contaminated environmental or waste-related media, conduct periodic inspections to verify compliance with existing permits, and determine the effectiveness of existing remedial activities. You will also plan and develop strategies for assisting responsible parties and hazardous waste facilities with non-compliance issues and identify the need for and initiate necessary enforcement actions.
You will also provide technical assistance to Ohio EPA legal staff and the Ohio Attorney General's Office and provide testimony, if necessary, at legal proceedings.

Training & experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
* OR baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science fields, with training to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
