ESTIMATOR POSITION
The position is responsible for estimating commercial construction projects. Estimator is responsible for providing accurate estimates, to support the company in the securing of sufficient profitable work. Position is responsible for maintaining a qualified database of vendors and subcontractors to assure the company's competitiveness in bidding and ability to perform work to appropriate standards.
At all times professionally represent the Company to our clients and design/construction
teams. The Estimator is responsible for integrating estimation into EEWS's sales efforts with the approval of senior management.
The Estimator reports directly to the Vice President of Preconstruction and Sales. Due to continued business growth, we seek to fill this position immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimating
Prepare comprehensive quantity surveys.
Prepare comprehensive estimates of labor, material, equipment, and travel for construction projects by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and RFPs.
Prepare conceptual estimates, identifying potential project risks, and budgets for upcoming projects.
Prepare detailed scopes of work and minimize job costs by communicating scopes with subcontractors and vendors.
Develop qualified vendor and subcontractor relationships for the solicitation of bids.
Evaluate bid specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings and/or site visits.
Coordinate estimation activity with EEWS executive, engineering, and project management team members.
Maintain sales logs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with construction estimating or project management experience preferred.
Understanding of architectural or structural drawings and window, curtain wall, louver, steel, or concrete shop drawings, required.
Strong math and analytical skills related to cost and pricing.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

About Your Opportunity:

Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing Estimator

The Mechanical Estimator (HVAC/Plumbing) is responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role focuses on evaluating and pricing HVAC and plumbing systems and plays a critical part in project budgeting, value engineering, and bid strategies. The Mechanical Estimator will work closely with the Preconstruction, Operations, and MEP teams to support successful project pursuits and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze mechanical (HVAC and plumbing) plans, specifications, and design documents to determine scope of work and estimate costs.
Prepare detailed takeoffs and pricing for mechanical systems including ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls.
Solicit and review quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to validate pricing and ensure scope alignment.
Collaborate with project teams to develop complete project estimates, including identifying constructability issues and potential value engineering opportunities.
Participate in internal estimating reviews and external client presentations as needed.
Assist with proposal preparation and bid strategies.
Maintain a database of historical costs, productivity rates, and market pricing for mechanical components.
Support the transition from preconstruction to operations by participating in project handoff meetings.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
3+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial construction (HVAC and plumbing focus).
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, codes, and construction practices.
Proficient in reading and interpreting MEP drawings and specifications.
Experience with estimating software (e.g., Trimble/Accubid, FastDUCT, FastPIPE, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Field or project management experience in HVAC or plumbing trades.
Familiarity with BIM coordination tools such as Revit or Navisworks.
Experience working in a CM, design-build, or negotiated project delivery environment.

Essential Functions:
- Greet customers in a professional manner, PROMPTLY upon arrival. Check with customers to assure they have been waited on.
- Acquire accurate descriptions of customer concerns. Record customers concerns on the repair order/estimate in a fashion that anyone will understand.
- Prepare repair orders with the primary concern clearly defined.
- Provide customers with clear and accurate estimates.
- Establish a promise time and agreed pick-up by the customer.
- Maintain the service scheduling form in a manner that insures quality customer communications and that any advisor can read and understand.
- Acquire customer authorization for all repairs.
- Upgrade promise time accordingly.
- Upgrade customer estimates and additions to the repair order.
- Obtain New/Used Car Department Managers authorization prior to performing
any internal repairs.
- Follow-up the progress of jobs throughout the day
- Maintain visibility and accessibility in the service area.
- Call each customer upon job completion. Before leaving for the day, verify all customers on the schedule that day have been contacted.
