Kitchell is seeking a Project Estimator in Tucson, Arizona to plan, organize, and implement accurate estimating functions for assigned projects. This role will communicate and work within estimating staff to ensure accurate estimates are professionally prepared in appropriate formats and in a timely manner and is critical in delivering accurate cost projections, supporting business development, and ensuring project success from concept through GMP.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review design documents to understand scope and clarify ambiguities with internal team, design team or Owner.
Prepare take-off for the following trades: Program Area, Interiors.
Enter line items in estimating software and price the following trades: Interiors, Enclosure Systems, Structural Systems, and Sitework.
Understand the systems and historical costs for interior trades
Develop sub lists and issue project documents to the subcontractor community.
Contact subcontractors for budget pricing and to clarify/understand various scopes of work.
Collaborate with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the estimate.
Develop bid posting scopes and review bids to ensure all assigned trades have a complete scope on competitive and negotiated projects.
Distribute project documents and relevant project information to the project team.
Track responsibilities of team preparing the estimate.
Close-out bids on Smartbid.
Review all estimates and bids with Sr. Estimator and/or Estimating Manager.
Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with internal and external clients.
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
3-7 years of applicable experience
Preferred:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Experience in commercial. markets
Experience with the CMAR delivery method.

General Summary
This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects to ensure Granite is a responsive bidder. This person will be working on a team and handling heavy civil estimating work, including: Paving, Structural Concrete, Flatwork, Underground, Water, and more! Essential Job Accountabilities

* Review "take-off" quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates.
* Utilize existing cost history as a check to complete estimate.
* Apply mathematical calculations requiring advanced analytical processes to ensure logically estimated costs are accurate.
* Analyze and communicate bidding risks, strategies and present estimate/bid to Senior/Chief Estimator for review to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Participate in estimate and bid reviews with Senior/Chief Estimator and Management to develop estimating skills.
* Analyze competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.
* Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of scope of job.
Education
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.
Work Experience
* 2+ years estimating experience.
* Prior Project Engineer and take-off experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
* Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off and Primavera Scheduling software.
* Working knowledge of Estimating software.
* Working knowledge of civil engineering principles.
* Working knowledge of construction principles.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Working knowledge of agency (U) DBE requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
Estimates time needed for repairs and informs customers.
Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop manager or foreperson.
Orders LKQ and after-market parts.
Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
Contacts insurance company on possible total vehicle loss.
Maintains contact with customers regarding repair updates and pick-up times.

In the event of a disagreement with manager or foreperson on repair cost, arrange to have damage appraised by another appraiser to resolve the situation.

**PRIMARY PURPOSE:** To review all estimates and supporting documentation submitted by contractors/adjusters using various estimating applications ensuring estimates follow client and regulatory requirements and meet Property Repair Solutions' guidelines; to serve as a subject matter expert on property restoration scope; to be a client liaison responsible for issue resolution, complex assignments, and auditing.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Conducts quality reviews of contractor documentation for repair estimates to ensure it meets local area codes, industry and manufacturer requirements, and the guidelines of the carrier and Property Repair Solutions.
+ Negotiates with adjusters, contractors, and others as necessary to reach agreement on final scope.
+ Creates, reviews, and submits fair and accurate estimates through various platforms including, but not limited to, supporting items to meet safety and/or other local/state/federal agency requirements, type and content of supporting documentation for accounts receivable, and scope differences.
+ Records data for initial estimates reviewed, number of reviews, and rejections on all files.
+ Identifies any differences and validates whether any differences are justified in accordance with standard industry practices or code.

+ Aides contractors regarding handling specific types of repairs.
+ Receives and responds to questions from contractors or carriers.

Reviewing and explaining estimates with the customer, providing the customer with a copy of the estimate, and referring them to the Customer Service Representative for scheduling the repair. The Customer Service Representative will give them a target delivery date. If the Customer Service Representative is not here, then the estimator will schedule the repair.

Managing all supplements and reinspections throughout the repair process, documenting with images, which includes the taking of images and storing of images.
The following up and documentation of supplement items reported by technicians.
The adding in of correct labor charges to RO at the moment of authorization.
The coordination of notifying the parts manager of the supplement parts that need to be ordered.
Communicating any repair status changes to Management and Customer Service Representative, and documenting this communication in notes.
Requesting authority from the customer and insurance representative for the change in any repair process.
Responsible for seeing that any special requests or repair procedures from the customer or insurance company, as well as any promises made by the company, will be noted on the estimate notes and work order. This includes prospective customers.
Noticing and offering free courtesy repairs to aid in selling a non-committed prospect.
Adhering to insurance company policies.
Monitoring repairs throughout the repair process to ensure a quality repair and that our customers' needs will be met or exceeded.
Upselling non-accident related damage when found during the estimating process or vehicle check on outside repair estimates.
Checking estimates and vehicle for special circumstances such as dents/chips in blend areas, worn tires prior to accident, dents in adjacent panels, etc. This will give an opportunity to give an estimate and get OK for customer pay repairs, saving delays in the repair process later.
Participating in the daily production meetings.
Maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Observing all safety procedures.
Prior to delivery of the vehicle, review and finalize all billing documentation, including supplements, invoices, and any special correspondence, to be sure that everything is in order before notifying the customer. This is necessary to have time to receive authorization on supplements from insurance companies that we do not have relationships with before the car leaves our shop.
Closing and archiving completed ROs and moving preliminary estimates to storage.
Review estimates and supplements for maximum allowable hours.
The estimator will serve as a backup for Management and Parts Manager and assist them as needed.
The estimator will request backup from Management when the workload becomes excessive. This would maintain quality estimating and attention to the client.
The estimator will be responsible for checking our stock parts when we need LKQ parts for a job.
The estimator will be responsible for keeping abreast of all new estimation techniques and processes.
Maintaining the accuracy of data input, including typographical errors.
Maintaining the completeness of owner and vehicle data entry.
Acting as the contact for our customer with future concerns, problems, or additional services.
The use of judgment in matters affecting the quality of Collision Center repairs.
The use of judgment in matters affecting the profitability of a job.
The continuous search for “not included items” and any other areas of lost revenue.
The estimator will take photos of parts to be ordered when writing a direct repair.

Job Summary
The Chief Estimators primary responsibility is to manage risk for the company by providing oversight and leadership to estimating teams. They are typically involved in multiple projects but may be assigned to a single large project when merited. In addition to having responsibility for the technical success and execution of the projects they work on; they are also responsible for managing the relationships with the other team members. Chief Estimators are ultimately responsible for the quality and timeliness of all estimating deliverables for assigned projects. Day-to-day efforts are focused on management of estimating teams, but individuals will also be asked to develop work product when appropriate or when necessary to manage the flow of work in the department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the delivery of estimates for projects, providing input, coordination, and problem-solving value at all stages of design development.
2. A strong design bid build estimating background is necessary. Personnel will develop alternative project delivery experience (P3s, Design Build, CM/GC, and CMAR) if that experience does not currently exist.
3. Expert level HCSS knowledge including project specific input of labor rates, equipment rates, insurance, bonding, and taxes.
4. Responsibility for the preparation of accurate and timely estimates on large transportation project bids from start to finish, the lead estimator leads and directs the entire estimating.
5. Experience working on large, complex transportation and heavy highway projects exceeding 100 million dollars.
6. Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management.
7. Define contract risk and establish contract cost exposure and probability due to the identified risk. Propose potential risk mitigation measures and/or recommend reasonable contract contingency.
8. Thorough understanding of entire project phasing and scope on complex projects with earthwork, structures, paving, and underground work.
9. Organize estimating team to review plans and specifications, make estimate assignments, and execute overall strategy for winning the bid.
10. Active participant in reviewing the work of the entire estimating team for compliance with the plans, specifications, and jobsite conditions.
11. Obtains review and input information from contracts, legal, taxes, insurance, human resources, and other support groups.
12. Has a strong working knowledge of large construction company cost structures (overheads, G&A, fees, insurances).
13. Estimate General Conditions and one or more self-perform disciplines.
14. Experience leading estimates in a Joint Venture environment including writing & following Joint Venture instructions, collaborating with Joint Venture partners, and conducting reviews.
15. Conducts bid review meeting with the Division Management to confirm cost, finalize bid, and markup/price work.
16. Select subcontractors and vendors team and closeout the bid. Understand escalation trends for labor and materials.
17. Develop and maintain successful subcontractor relations. Participate in subcontractor outreach and other Good Faith Efforts that encourage minority participation.
18. Buy-out projects with ultimate responsibility for budgeting and all subcontracts and purchase orders.
19. Lead, develop, and mentor other team members and junior estimators. Participates in talent management activities, such as coaching and performance reviews of others.
Minimum Job Requirements
9. Four‐year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
10. Ten or more years of experience in an estimating role.
11. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
12. Proficient in the use of commonly used industry estimating software programs.
13. Successful history executing projects as the prime point of contact with minimal oversight for project teams.
