ELC Education Coordinator
Family ACCESS of Newton is a community-based nonprofit supporting families through early childhood education, counseling, and family support services. For over 100 years, the organization has served thousands of families, regardless of their economic status, from Newton and neighboring towns.
The word ACCESS is an acronym of the phrase "A Center for Comprehensive Education and Support Services", a phrase that clearly defines the organization's work in the community. Position Summary: The Education Coordinator of the Early Learning Center (ELC) works under the supervision of the ELC Director to implement, evaluate and ensure a culturally and developmentally age appropriate programs for all children in the ELC program at Family Access. The Education Coordinator works with the ELC Leadership Team to ensure the overall educational quality of the program. This position conducts regular classroom observations, provides feedback to teaching teams, supports individual teachers to develop Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP) and plans professional development opportunities. Collaborate with the ELC Leadership Team to ensure that all regulations and requirements for EEC state licensing and NAEYC Accreditation are met and maintained in the classrooms.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Teacher supervision including observations and supervision meetings
Contributes to and supports program marketing activities for the ELC
Support the classrooms as needed, with in classroom time anticipated at 30-40%
Maintains strong working relationships within the organization, ELC admin team, and with the teaching teams
Provides family support and creates a welcoming environment for all families and children
Provides supervision, guidance, and training to individual teachers as needed
Support Director interventions when teachers are displaying practices that are not in adherence to policies and requirements
Conducts regularly scheduled classroom observations for classrooms needing support
Contributes to annual teacher performance evaluations
Supports the outside referral process for early intervention services as needed
Interview, observe and assess perspective teacher candidates
Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
Implement and uphold the center's policies and procedures
Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in early childhood education and incorporate them into the center's programs
Provide ongoing training, staff development, and opportunities for professional growth data-driven by both programmatic priorities and individual professional development needs
Oversee the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children
Maintain compliance with EEC licensing regulations, NAEYC accreditation, and MA QRIS standards; lead state licensing and national accreditation processes, including filing of annual reporting and communication of outcomes to the community and leadership
Create a family-friendly atmosphere and plan for community activities that encourage parent and family engagement
Provide prospective family tours, as needed
Assist in planning and implementing open houses
Co-lead staff meetings
Organize and support the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) activities
Plan/coordinate/conduct staff development trainings
Daily monitoring of the physical environment and proactively taking actions to ensure the center is clean and safe
Distribute daily scheduling and assignment of teaching staff
Perform other duties as needed/assigned
Teacher Supervisory/Support Responsibility:
Daily classroom learning areas meet the standards of the program's philosophy and curriculum.
Ensuring weekly classroom lesson plans are completed and that the plans are meeting the program's philosophy and educational goals
Ensuring high-quality classroom standards including the review of child assessments and the monitoring of the use of developmental checkpoints using Teaching Strategy Gold (TSG)
Ensuring all teachers have an active profile in the Professional Qualifications Registry (PQR)
Reviewing developmental progress reports (EI).
Child monthly observations
Modeling classroom strategies and supports teachers to implement different approaches/methods to improve classroom routines
Creating an environment that fosters team problem solving skills and reflective thinking
Developing and implementing curriculum that promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child.
Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education/Child Development Associate (CDA), or the equivalent in a combination of education and experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience directing an early education program
EEC Director II certification
Bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus
Knowledge and adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information
Effective and inclusive communicator and facilitator
Proactive and creative problem solver. Maintains an awareness of ELC's mission and philosophy and strives to promote the goals it embodies
Works closely with the program administration to create a cohesive program administrative team
Inspires teaching staff to bring their passion, energy and creativity to their work

Position Summary: The Education Coordinator of the Early Learning Center (ELC) works under the supervision of the ELC Director to implement, evaluate and ensure a culturally and developmentally age appropriate programs for all children in the ELC program at Family Access. The Education Coordinator works with the ELC Leadership Team to ensure the overall educational quality of the program. This position conducts regular classroom observations, provides feedback to teaching teams, supports individual teachers to develop Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP) and plans professional development opportunities. Collaborate with the ELC Leadership Team to ensure that all regulations and requirements for EEC state licensing and NAEYC Accreditation are met and maintained in the classrooms.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Teacher supervision including observations and supervision meetings
Contributes to and supports program marketing activities for the ELC
Support the classrooms as needed, with in classroom time anticipated at 30-40%
Maintains strong working relationships within the organization, ELC admin team, and with the teaching teams
Provides family support and creates a welcoming environment for all families and children
Provides supervision, guidance, and training to individual teachers as needed
Support Director interventions when teachers are displaying practices that are not in adherence to policies and requirements
Conducts regularly scheduled classroom observations for classrooms needing support
Contributes to annual teacher performance evaluations
Supports the outside referral process for early intervention services as needed
Interview, observe and assess perspective teacher candidates
Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
Implement and uphold the center's policies and procedures
Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in early childhood education and incorporate them into the center's programs
Provide ongoing training, staff development, and opportunities for professional growth data-driven by both programmatic priorities and individual professional development needs
Oversee the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children
Maintain compliance with EEC licensing regulations, NAEYC accreditation, and MA QRIS standards; lead state licensing and national accreditation processes, including filing of annual reporting and communication of outcomes to the community and leadership
Create a family-friendly atmosphere and plan for community activities that encourage parent and family engagement
Provide prospective family tours, as needed
Assist in planning and implementing open houses
Co-lead staff meetings
Organize and support the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) activities
Plan/coordinate/conduct staff development trainings
Daily monitoring of the physical environment and proactively taking actions to ensure the center is clean and safe
Distribute daily scheduling and assignment of teaching staff
Perform other duties as needed/assigned
Teacher Supervisory/Support Responsibility:
Daily classroom learning areas meet the standards of the program's philosophy and curriculum.
Ensuring weekly classroom lesson plans are completed and that the plans are meeting the program's philosophy and educational goals
Ensuring high-quality classroom standards including the review of child assessments and the monitoring of the use of developmental checkpoints using Teaching Strategy Gold (TSG)
Ensuring all teachers have an active profile in the Professional Qualifications Registry (PQR)
Reviewing developmental progress reports (EI).
Child monthly observations
Modeling classroom strategies and supports teachers to implement different approaches/methods to improve classroom routines
Creating an environment that fosters team problem solving skills and reflective thinking
Developing and implementing curriculum that promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child.
Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education/Child Development Associate (CDA), or the equivalent in a combination of education and experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience directing an early education program
EEC Director II certification
Bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus
Knowledge and adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information
Effective and inclusive communicator and facilitator
