Qualifications and Requirements The Health and Wellness Assistant must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: * High School Diploma or GED, required. * One or more years of experience providing assistance with ADLs, highly preferred. * One or more years of experience working with seniors, preferred. * Ability to read, write and understand the English language in order to provide assistance with ADLs in accordance with each assigned resident's personalized care plan, observe and provide medication assistance to resident, react and communicate during emergencies, and communicate with other employees, supervisors, residents and guests. * Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously without sitting for extended periods of time. * Ability to lift or carry up to 40 pounds. About the position The Austin Cambridge Caregiver position is responsible for attentive, professional, and compassionate care for our valued clients. This position is responsible for creating an environment and experience for the client and their families that is comforting and caring. This role works to actively engage with the clients on a personal level to understand and respond to their needs. This role requires a high degree of attention to detail, the ability to manage and transfer knowledge to other caregivers on the engagement, excellent communication skills and flexibility in scheduling and tasks. This role reports to the Regional Operations Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure the safety and well-being of all clients at all times. Utilize proper body mechanics and safety protocols in assigned duties. Review engagement Care Plan prior to arrival. Assist clients as required and as directed by the Care Plan. Always promote the maximum amount of independence from all clients. Encourage the client to do as much as possible for themselves. Perform light housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry as needed. Perform companionship duties and demonstrate supportive listening and responding. Remain fully awake and responsive to clients during shifts. Cell phones should only be used during work hours for emergency situations and contact with Cambridge Caregivers management staff. Ear buds, headphones or any audio device preventing full attention to duties should not be used during shift hours. Report unsafe shifts, and change in the condition of the clients' emotional, physical, or psychological state, and workplace safety concerns to the Company immediately. Refer questions or complaints to the Administrator or Assistant Administrator. Attend at least six hours of continuing education annually. Provide activity and engagement support to clients at appropriate level described in the Care Plan. Independently clock in and out of shift using our time and attendance app, WellSky. Follow uniform and appearance guidelines at all times. Follow Cambridge Caregivers Policies and Procedures. Preferred Skills and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Five or more years of relevant experience with the aged or infirmed. CNA preferred. Hoyer lift and advance transfer experience required. Successful experience with late-stage Dementia clients. Experience with bed-bound client care. Experience with post-op client care. Preferred experience with behavioral dementia, Parkinson's, or Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) clients. Preferred experience with RN delegated tasks. BLS preferred. Medical background, training, certifications, and experience highly preferred. Experience with WellSky or other similar clock in/clock out mobile apps. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with elders. Ability to safely lift, bend, stoop, and reach as required for care described in a client Care Plan.
