Job Summary
PetSmart's Professional Bather (dog bather) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences, salon specific services and upholding the company's vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness, recommending of solutions for pet parents, and pet safety standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs:
Successful completion of PetSmart's Splash training and safety certification program.
Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone and at the sales register.
Greets pet parents, answers their questions and assists with making reservations in the salon.
Responsible for check-in and check-out procedures.
Independently performs full menu of bath and brush services and standalone services, such as nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services in accordance with PetSmart's bathing standards and procedures.
Shares additional health and wellness solutions with pet parents based on pet's needs.
Ensures a safe environment for our associates, pets, and pet parents.
Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store; transport to the vet as needed.
Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services.
Maintains total store cleanliness standards.
Assists and works in other departments as required. Other duties may be assigned.
Participates in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.

Essential physical demands and work environment
Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Provides dementia care including adapted ADL's, meaningful engagement and communication to residents following a person centered individual service plan. This includes bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from programs and meals according to the individual service plan and individualized interventions. Participates in team behavioral expression meetings or discussions with community leadership.
Knows the residents Life Story, preferences, historical routines and interests.

Encourages residents with prompting and cueing skills to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the resident's right to free choice. Records and reports changes in resident's eating habits to the supervisor.
Initiates and/or leads minimally one Daily Path engagement program provided for residents as described in the resident's Life Story, Solace program or calendar. Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned, spontaneous, individual or small group person centered programs and to support friendships between residents.
Maintains residents' records daily, in a timely manner, and in accordance with company policy and procedures. This includes documentation related to medication distribution as applicable, engagement interests, incidents and observations, reporting any changes in resident's physical condition and/or behavior, visitors, etc. Observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each resident and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor.
Only if permitted by state specific regulations, may assist residents with medication as defined in medication procedure. Follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to residents who cannot self-administer their medications. Exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures. Refer to state specific regulations regarding medication assistance.
Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents. Performs general housekeeping, following cleaning schedules for resident laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance, including emergency pull cords, telephone calls, and requests from family and friends.
Monitors the location of each resident and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident.
