The Dean of Academic Affairs is a college-wide academic and campus leader who assumes primary responsibility for the supervision and assessment of all academic programs, instructional programming, personnel, and other areas designated by the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs (VPASA). The Dean of Academic Affairs is responsible to the VPASA and has broad accountability, within the shared governance framework, for ensuring quality instructional and academic programming. The Dean of Academic Affairs fosters, supports, and enhances a mission-driven academic environment that centers the student at the forefront of decision-making and is expected to engage as a collaborative member of the Academic & Student Affairs (ASA) team to maintain a positive, collegial, and productive environment.
This position is charged with enhancing and increasing access, engagement, retention, and learner satisfaction consistent with the College's strategic planning and best practices as well as promoting fiscal responsibility and accountability through transparent and collaborative programmatic budget development and assessments. This deanship's areas of primary responsibility include the Nursing and Allied Health programs. Although based out of the East Grand Forks campus, the dean is accountable for ensuring the quality and integrity of assigned academic/career technical programming and supervising assigned faculty college-wide. This position directs applicable academic operations at the East Grand Forks campus with authority to make decisions on issues of an acute nature.
Provide innovative instructional leadership for the College in collaboration with Deans Council
Supervise and manage Northland's concurrent enrollment programming.
Supervise and evaluate instructional programs and courses in collaboration with Deans Council and the Assessment & Program Review Committee.
Supervise and evaluate instructional personnel in assigned areas.
Provide fiscal oversight in assigned areas.
Provide necessary services in areas of assigned responsibility.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with all stakeholders (e.g. students, faculty, staff, peers, community agencies, advisory committees, business and industry partners as well as secondary and higher education partners).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range:
93,713.00 - 149,940.00 annually
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from a regionally (institutionally) accredited college or university; AND at least three years (6 semesters) of experience in educational leadership positions with progressive levels of responsibility as faculty or administrator; AND at least three years (6 semesters) of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
Ability to travel weekly to be physically present at the East Grand Forks campus three (3) days per week and at the Thief River Falls campus two (2) days per week. This position is NOT eligible for telework.
Demonstrated success in building partnerships with industry.
Preferred Qualification
Credential in Nursing or Allied Health field.
Deep understanding of using data-informed assessment for continuous improvement.
Experience working in a union environment.
Previous experience working in a technical, community and/or comprehensive community & technical college.

Safely operates the wheelchair lift as needed; properly securing passengers in wheelchair securement area, as trained.
Safely assists ambulatory passengers with walkers or folding carts on and off the bus as needed.
Assists passengers on and off the bus as needed.
Advises all passengers to be seated and use seatbelts provided.
Respectfully enforces passenger policies, maintaining a safe and positive environment.
Effectively operates the communication equipment, maintaining positive, respectful, and appropriate communication at all times.
Immediately reports delays of any kind to the Route Coordinator or designee to adapt route and/or communication with customers as appropriate.
Completes records and reports on a daily and monthly basis, as required.

Public Relations and Marketing
Performs public relations and marketing duties to increase ridership and public awareness.
Responsible for depositing fare boxes, weekly, at designated drop spots.
Sells tickets and collects fees
Safety - Compliance
Remains alert and always focused on driving; is aware of potential weather and/or driving conditions that may affect the safety of passengers and route schedule.
Performs Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Vehicle Safety Inspections according to checklist before each starting route and again when route is finished. Promptly reports vehicle problems to the Transportation Fleet Supervisor.
Immediately reports vehicle accidents, regardless of damage, break downs, and passenger accident/incidents to the Transportation Program Manager, and Transit Route Coordinator to minimize disruption to scheduled services.
Immediately reports employee injuries of any kind to Transportation Program Manager and completes a worker's compensation accident report form as soon as possible, no later than the end of the shift.
Participates in mandatory Drug and Alcohol training; complies with required and requested testing. Ensures vehicle is compliant with MN/DOT regulations regarding; fire extinguisher, spill kit, first aid kit, flashlight and securements in addition to the pre/post trip inspection. Is aware of safety equipment on bus and responsible to safely use as needed.
Complies with traffic laws and regulations.
Safely performs Tri-Valley Transportation Driver Certification criteria to maintain employment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Current Medical Examination Card; upon hire and maintain thereafter.
Minimum age of 21 years, if required to drive bus across state line.
Pass pre-employment drug screening and background search requirements as listed on Conditional Job Offer; upon hire and continuously meet requirements thereafter. Participate in subsequent drug/alcohol testing and background searches as appropriate.
Acceptable MVR results upon hire, and annually thereafter.
Minimum of three years of driving experience.
Pass Tri-Valley Transportation Driver Certification training and observation provided upon hire; must pass to continue employment.
Bus Driver I: Valid Driver's License; upon hire and maintain thereafter.

Up to 30 hours of 1:1 training time to learn and practice driving with a Tri-Valley bus.
Up to 15 hours of ride along training time to observe qualified drivers on the job.
