Essential Duties And Responsibilities The Department of Anthropology is committed to a comparative and holistic approach to the study of the human experience. The anthropological perspective provides a broad understanding of the origins as well as the meaning of physical and cultural diversity in the world - past, present, and future. As such, the program in anthropology offers the opportunity for understanding world affairs and problems within the total context of the human experience and for constructing solutions to world problems which are firmly grounded in that context. The Postdoctoral Research Associateship will be assisting Dr.Kissel on his Templeton Foundation Grant “The Concepts in Dynamic Assemblages: Cultural Evolution and the Human Way of Being project” Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Develop and refine research questions, hypotheses, and methodologies related to the study of ‘concepts' and the ‘dynamic assemblage' approach to early technologies Lead discrete components of the larger project under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher. Conduct fieldwork, laboratory work, and/or meta-analysis, research to gather relevant data. Analyze collected data and present the work to colleagues within the wider project team, including colleagues external to the disciplines of anthropology and archaeology Collaborate with the principal investigators and the larger research team to apply their data and research under the “concepts” framework Prepare research findings for publication in scholarly journals Engage with the wider scientific community through active participation in conferences and workshops Contribute to the development of research outputs beyond academic publications, such as blogs and other forms of outreach Minimum Qualifications Have a PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology, or other relevant discipline by August 1st, 2023. Have expertise in the study of prehistory technology and/or material culture. Have period-specific expertise in the Palaeolithic (with open regional expertise) Be interested in wider theoretical discussions and applications of the role of technology in the human niche Be willing to both work as part of a wider project, and, to work independently Be willing to travel, both nationally and internationally, for project meetings, workshops, and primary research purposes Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience in the analysis of either lithic and/or organic technology.

Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. 7. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student. 8. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. 9. Assists the teacher in class preparation and record keeping. 10. Supervises students in non-instructional activities such as lunch, free play, and rest time. 11. Participates in in-service training programs as assigned. 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
