Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:
· Inspect fleet equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary repair
· Repair, replace, and adjust necessary units and parts
· Perform maintenance work to DOT standards for over the road equipment
· Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel, propane, and battery powered engines/equipment
· General repair, welding, and fabrication of fleet units
· Perform preventative maintenance work on vehicles including lubrication, oil changes, and annual inspections
· Clean and maintain the work area and equipment
· Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed
Skills and Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
· Ability to locate and resolve problems in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
· Knowledge of standard practices, equipment, and tools of the fleet equipment trade
· Knowledge of forklift and automobile mechanical electrical systems
· Ability to lift 75+lbs
· Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
· Ability to work independently or with help
· Basic welding and maintenance experience
· Ability to maintain Full time work schedule
· Must be able to work at faster pace

This position could be an entry level through experienced mechanic that would be working on anything from preventative maintenance to larger repairs. This position is constantly training on all other systems in order to reach A level mechanic. In order to advance to the next level, they must have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Some mechanical knowledge, mechanical aptitude or education.
Previous work experience in a mechanic role with basic knowledge of Gasoline and/or Diesel engines preferred.
Knowledge of working safely in a shop environment and around different types of tools and equipment
Ability to read and understand repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair vehicle or component failure
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including but not limited to standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas)
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to safely drive service vehicle and vehicles in and out of service area
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, & background check

Mechanic Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform repair and maintenance to fleet vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
Perform inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on company vehicles and equipment.
Utilizes the vehicle computer electronics system to interpret failure modes and initiate and/or assign repairs.
Perform all work within Standard Repair Times and report any deviations to Supervisor.
Completes day to day tasks under limited supervision

Job Requirements may include, but not limited to:
Perform all levels of preventative maintenance services.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure proper working condition.
Perform routine maintenance.

Skills and Abilities Needed:

In-depth knowledge of truck components and systems.

Requirements:

Complete MPI inspection for service advisors, including estimate and explanation
Test drive vehicles with customers to evaluate noise and vibration concerns
Repair vehicles based on diagnosed issues and repair estimate
Test drive vehicles after repairs have been done to ensure customers' complaints have been resolved.
Determine any additional work that should be done to the vehicle after a test drive
File appropriate documentation on each repair
Keep up to date on all manufacturer information and training that will affect vehicles' repairs (recalls, etc.)
Return the vehicle to the appropriate location, ensuring the vehicle is locked, numbered location is updated, and wiped off/cleaned accordingly.
Essential Job Functions:

Certain manufacturer certifications are preferred but not required.

Must be able to stand for long periods
