Job Summary
The GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Mechanic Helper supports the maintenance, operation, and servicing of various motorized and non-motorized ground support equipment. This role is hands-on, outdoor, and requires mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced airport environment.

Your activities
Operate and drive all types of ground support equipment (GSE), including both motorized and non-motorized units.
Assist in performing preventive maintenance on GSE in accordance with established schedules and Fueling ATA guidelines.
Support all GSE operations as required, under the direction of senior technicians or shop leads.
Aid in the removal of malfunctioning equipment from service.
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records in compliance with airline, airport, federal, provincial, and municipal regulations, including ATA and SP requirements.
Follow all applicable safety, environmental, and security regulations, including those set out by WCB, EPA, WHMIS, airport authorities, and SP management.
Maintain a valid driver's license.
Keep the GSE shop and related work areas clean, organized, and in serviceable condition, report deficiencies to management.
Fuel equipment as needed, observing all safety and environmental procedures.
Communicate professionally with management, customers, and staff as required.
Be proactive and self-directed, reporting to the shop leads daily.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:
Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
Must have own basic skill related tools and equipment if not supplied by the workplace.
Lay-out, fabricate and brace metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames.
Lay out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates and using scribe and hand tools.
Locate and mark reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
