The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements for enhancement of safety, quality, cost, reduction, and throughput. This position will identify, prepare justifications, and coordinate the design and development of new processes, systems, and equipment - both automated and non-automated. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of manufacturing to provide effective support and troubleshooting. CORE FUNCTIONS • Identify, plan, implement, and monitor the use of technology to improve, streamline, and automate manufacturing processes. This includes working with external resources and/or vendors to successfully implement and maintain. • Develop automated and non-automated manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. • Communicate recommendations for changes, prepare cost justifications, and coordinate the design and development of new processes, systems, equipment, or materials. • Utilize process mapping and value stream analysis tools to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Conduct and analyze time and motion studies to ensure optimal part/product flow. • Lead manufacturing projects to ensure timeline, cost, and outcome expectations are met. • Provide support to product design engineering and production during design, development, and implementation of new and improved products. Assist with troubleshooting or problem-solving activities. • Design and develop fixtures and tooling related to the enhancement of manufactured processes, product changes, and new products that are consistent with a zero-defect level and low product cost. • Lead and train others in utilizing lean manufacturing tools to deliver results. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. • 4+ years of engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment is required. • 2D and/or 3D CAD experience is required (preferably in AutoCAD and SolidWorks). • ERP or other manufacturing software experience is preferred. • CNC, PLC, Robotic programming experience is preferred. Job Description The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements for enhancement of safety, quality, cost, reduction, and throughput. Job Requirements/Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred 3+ years of related work experience Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.) MS Word-Advanced; MS Excel-Advanced; MS PowerPoint-Intermediate; MS Outlook-Intermediate Intermediate 2D (AutoCAD) and/or 3D CAD (PTC Creo, SolidWorks) experience, preferred Advanced Math Skills Advanced Communication skills (Develop written communications requiring grammar skills; interact with customers or suppliers on an explanatory basis; interact with groups of people and co-workers; use of telephones, public address system, and oral communication). -OR- An acceptable combination of education and experience. Highlights of your role * Work closely with cross-functional teams. * Gain an understanding of the daily challenges on the production floor. * Support specific Product Groups in meeting their goals. * Identify and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) and LEAN concepts. * Use Engineering principles and CI tools to establish current state and develop future state plans. * Maintain a future state roadmap for capital project proposals. * Support projects and equipment acquisition. * Exhibit knowledge of layout planning, work procedures, cost impacts, crewing guidelines, and takt time impact for support initiatives.
