Job Description Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Journeyman Pay: $41.36 - $42.65 per hour (Double time for Sunday shifts) Schedule: Full-time | Rotating 12-hour shifts | Relocation assistance available Your Impact As an E&I Journeyman, you will be essential to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our production and facilities equipment. Candidates are required to take and pass an Accuplacer test at local technical college for reading and math in order to be eligible. They will also need a high school diploma and transcript. All apprenticeship programs have a great deal of math involved. If someone has struggled with math throughout their previous education (high school or college), they will probably struggle with this through their apprenticeship. During their apprenticeship, employees go to school during a normal school year (September to May). Plumbers and Steamfitter apprentices go for a full day every other week for a span of 4 years. Local 18 apprentices go for a full day every week for a span of 2 years. Apprentices are paid their wages for the days they spend in class. They are then able to bring back what they learn and apply it in their work environment. There are also night classes that are required throughout the 5 year program such as OSHA 30 hour, etc. The classes for night school are often paid for by the union, but the employee is not paid wages for any night classes. For Local 18, the night school classes are only paid for by the union if the student has 100% attendance. During the apprenticeship, there is also a work hour requirement for on-the-job training and experience. Apprentices usually do not have trouble meeting this requirement since they're typically working at Bassett throughout the full apprenticeship. The position frequently oversees less experienced electricians, as well as trains apprentices in the trade. The Maintenance Electrician ensures that all work is performed to the highest standards and meet all safety requirements in the performance of the work. Night Shift Sc: 6pm-6am, 2-2-3 schedule Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain, inspect, and modify electrical equipment, technologies and processes. Lead plant projects and act as point of contact for contractors as delegated by the maintenance manager. Perform daily preventive maintenance of electrical circuits. Install new electrical circuits. Bend and install electrical conduit following all appropriate local and national codes. Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors and equipment controls. Help plant production personnel troubleshoot electrical-related production problems. Maintain a safe work environment. Understand and comply with NEC electrical standards and codes. Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified. Provide coverage for maintenance manager when on vacation or otherwise unavailable. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices. Safety Protocol Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures. Correct or report any observed safety hazards. Support safety policies and programs. What You Need to Join Our Team: Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Coursework in the Electrical trade required. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Experience Required: Minimum four (4) years of experience in the electrical trade required. Experience reading and understanding electrical prints and troubleshooting electrical circuits required. Experience with three phase motors, transformers, and control circuits required. Certification/Licensure Required: State Master's Electrician or Journeyman's Electrician license required. Skills Required: Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with executives, managers, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the organization. Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work. Decisions administered soundly and consistently with policies and in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations. Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently. This facility is a top manufacturer of IQF sticks that are supplied to the appetizer industry. Next to the plant is our well-known Simon's Specialty Cheese store, which has about 20 employees.
